The 160 is an absolute stunner, there is even a rumour it is better than the current 180 (I have never compared them, so can't comment). The 160 has more power and grunt than the 110 or 140, and has a really good tight and bouncy sound. Try and get later final spec one (1980+), in the extruded case. Get it re-capped, and you have a truly stunning amp for very little money.
Compared to the 110 (which I love) the 160 has far more weight and authority, plus the ability to drive more difficult speakers. My impression is that a really good 160 is not that far behind a 250.

My friend Paul has a 160 (with an 82 2 Hicap pre) and I agree with Tony it is a real bargain. It's no where as quick as a 250 but it really does sound excellent.

Once again Tony has beaten me to it and said exactly what I think. I actually did this upgrade from 110 to 160. Last week I even mentioned it in a post on another thread where I made a comparison with the NAP180.
I compared the NAP180 against the NAP160, both used and for sale from the same dealer. The 180 wasn't very old at all and the price was very good. It is fair to say that the 160 was cheaper, but on the face of it the 180 looked a better deal. After auditioning I decided that the 160 was the one to buy. It just sounded much better. As for comparing with the 110...Big upgrade.
