Sound really good.

Thank you, dear rega1....

So, the Roller Blocks "senior"...series 2+...should then do an actually deeper impact on sound-improvement, right???

You would be correct, it is a different system though The bearing is meant to sit directly on the equipment bottom side. There looks to be a stainless steel plate that can be used for rough surfaces, but you may want to read up a bit to make sure. Pete, at symposium said that some folks do not like setting the bearing directly on the chasis of the equipment due to preference and the surface roughness.

he block is filled with dampening material (yellow dots on the bottom in the picture on the web site), which would help vibration dampening even more.

So there is a catch. Bearing direct contact and vibration dampening material, or a Roller Jr. set with a top and bottom? It is a matter of preference and cost. But remember the NAIM finish on the outside of the chasis is NOT smooth. If I had the money I would buy a svelte shelf and use roller block Jr's (my next addition). The 5/8 inch svelte shelf is a nice addition to vibration dampening. They have done Demos with Naim equipment at trade shows, and the svelte's work with Naim and as a stand alone under a speaker, CD player, and even better with the roller block sets!!

Needless to say, The sound improved in a few ways. The instrument presentation was separated more, and the digital, vibrant sound has deteriorated dramatically. That is to say, the action of presentation of those higher frequencies is delivered a bit more smooth and not as harsh.

I ordered mainly because of these changes...

The CD5x is already much more "harsh-free" than the CD5i-2 (had him too) and smoother, but due to my room-situation, the reduction of those higher freqs would really please me...

So you really feel it was a nice improvement still?

Dear Luxen,

Absolutely it is worth it. I would have gone for the higher roller block +2, but I am tapped out, going broke, and in debt with my additions to my new system. I have to stop the madness now for a while to save for a supernait!!!

You won't be disappointed, you will be able to tell the difference, and you will enjoy the sound improvement.

The most noticable improvement was the fact that the vibration in the equipment was dissapated in the rollerblocks. I have an issue with my equipment stand. It is a very rigid and is not the best for equipment support, but that is all I have for now....bad for eliminating vibrations from the floor.

How much were the rollerblock +2 for the set?

Keep me posted on your set-up process when they arrive. Take some pics to post and let me know how it goes.

I will post some pics tonight of my shelf unit. It is just a set of L-shapes with pockets in it for equipment support. They are very rigid, and not well made for anti-vibration in stereo equipment. Vibration seems to transfer easily through the structures.

You ordered the juniors!!! Well done. I would like to have a set of Corras, Isoblue or a Fraim, just no money yet.

Luxen,

Fantastic. I am curious as to your opinion and how your set-up goes. In the picture I posted I moved my CD5i to the top shelf above the Nait5i (per the reccomendations of the dealer) and it sounds a bit different/ warmer. Thank you for the compliment on my set-up, I am pleased with it.

Looking forward to your report. Cool

Hi there,

the Roller Block JR´s just arrived some minutes ago.

Unpacked, all is fine.
Six hard discs, 3 balls.
Cool.

I unscrewed the standard feet of the CD5x and put these babies under it.

Listened to some "well-known"-tracks:

Sophie Zelmani -Dreamer
Pearl Jam
Coheed and Cambria

Awesome improvement.
Exactly like dear rega1 described it.
Very nice presentation, wider soundstage, details better...but:
THE BASS!!!! Unbelievably better. Much more REAL, still fat. Deeper sounding too.
More "air" around everything, esp. around voices...

More listening to be done...

But the smile is BIG!!!
Big Grin

Excellent!!! I will say, I notice more bass on certain tracks now. Did you replace the blocks by screwing them directly to the chasis? Or did you set the blocks in the place where the feet were? Nice pic, looks perfect!!!

YES, Big smiles indeed on your new purchase Big Grin

I tried the symposium roller bearings and didn't like the sound it was some hoe unsettling and didn't flow. There was probably deeper bass. However the symposium shelf was superb. Richer fuller sound without any detail loss.

My 2 cents based on highly "objective" listening so please take it with a grain of salt.

Still in testing mode...lol...

Nope, I just unscrewed the feet and put the blocks under the chassis, where no screw is...

After testing this afternoon...posts will follow...

I did exactly that. But in the set up literature it does say that if you can rest them next to a mounting screw on the chassis, to do that, and that is what I did. There is a mounting scew close to the where the feet mount, so I set them right next to that screw.

Followed your advice, rega1.

These blocks are great.

Now, even Amy Winehouse´s "Back to black" sounds REALLY good.
I found this CD very "digitally"-sounding.
Now, the bass hits your stomach...

Until now, NO REGRETS here!!!

Excellent Luxen....

Sounds like a great find for both of us!! I was listening to John Coltrane last night on CD, burned with WAV files, it was sounding fantastic!!! A little Van Morrison too!!!
