Now that I am in my forties, my plan is to stay in with my wife and daughter, eat drink and listen to Naim till the wee hours! To all you single guys, this may seem dull. However, to me, it is an evening well spent! Happy New Year to all you Naim-lovers and raise a glass to JV as he listens to that 500/52/dbl system in the sky. Peace to all. david.

Gentlemen

I am am waiting for the wife to apply her make up etc before we go out to a local restuarant and then onto my club in order to celebrate the occassions of new years eve and my birthday. I am 52 today and its frightening how quick time flies.

I have a glass of a superb 25 year old single malt and I can think of nothing more appropriate than to drink a toast to the memory of a very unique man.

Julian Vereker M.B.E......a very special man

Regards

Mick Parry

Greetings friends,
Here are my desert island discs at the end of the 20th Century. That doesn't mean to say they're my favourites from the 20th Century, only that they're my favourites, or those I couldn't live without, at this moment in time. It has taken a long time to develop this list. I know that Ms Lawley only allows 8, but I'd have to beg and plead for 10. That was hard enough!. If you listen to the music (rhythm, melody, harmony) in each you'll be rewarded with visions of Heaven.

Well, I wish you all well for the new year, the new Century and the new Millennium. For 2001 I wish you all love and peace and not too much odyssey in space (goodness knows how Richard Strauss escaped my desert island list, especially his 4 last songs). I hope for peace in Northern Ireland and in the Middle East and, indeed across Africa. For the 21st Century, I hope that mankind can manage its way through the end of world oil supplies and, perhaps finally realise that economic growth is not sustainable as a never ending goal.

Peace and happiness in whatever you do in the new year and, as John Lennon once said, all you need is love...
God bless you all,
CB
Oh, and happy birthday to fellow Wiltshire Resident, Mick.

A worthy sentiment--raise a glass and observe a silent moment for Julian Vereker, MBE.

Just uncorked a bottle of 1995 Samuel Adams Triple Bock whilst listening to Grace Jones.

Cheers,

A bit late to join in this thread now I suppose, but I was thinking of Jools on New Years Eve and had a little drink in his honour.

He and I used to have a toast every now and then to another friend who passed away some years ago.

"Here's to us and all those like us. Damn few left."
