You have a cd5 why not get a better cdp.
In another thread you ask about using a Flatcap with your ccd 5 and the Snait.
And now this question.
You need to go and have a chat with a good Naim dealer and sort out what you want from a Naim system.

No, i don't need a good chat.

I do have the super nait. Great amp which is the hart of my music system.

I do have a Logitech duet, CD5, BD-player.

The SN gives me all the possibilities to connect everything i want. So some times you have to deliver some quality of pre amp ( otherwise i already have a 282 or 252 )

I already have had the CDX2/XPS2. Not worth any more after listening to my Logitech SB3/Duet on my DAC of the SN.

So i love the naim sound and i got great speakers.

Then my question: Will it be worth to go bi-amp with the NAP250.

Another CD-player is not the way to go for me. i already had one.

So pumping up the SN with power amp and FC will that go very well?

Sorry if you got the Hump .
But it looked like a bit of a why ask Mullet post.
It will be good to see what other people think about Bi-amping the Snait with a Nap250?

Usual advice is to buy the best amp you can - 500 in passive mode is better than bi-amped 300.

If your after the best sound then I agree with munch - the CDX2/XPS2 will sound better than your current sources and make the most significant upgrade.

I can't see the point of bi-amping the SN - especially with your speakers, unless you can use an active crossover then I doubt you'll hear any improvement - may even sound worse because the SN amp and 250 will are different amps with a different sound.

I think the SN is the strongest link in your system and its a fine amplifier, especially through its analogue inputs.

I haven't heard the effect of different power-supplies on the SN.

Sorry not the answer you wanted, I'm afraid.

The only way to see what the 250 does is to borrow one and try it. Biamping is one idea - if the speakers are designed for passive biamping. The other option is to use the 250 as a power amp; keeping the snait as a DAC/pre. One Forum member uses a snait with a 300 will allegedy good results.

But I can't help thinking that the point of the snait is as a very high quality one box solution, and that once you add power supplies, extra amps and whatnot, you may as well go for something like a 282 and 200 in the first place. But I guess if the DAC is important to you things can look different.

The other thing I would suggest is to stop swappping boxes all the time and just live with what you have. I had a nightmare period when the house resembled a hifi dealer, and it was simply impossible to relax and enjoy the music.

Robert,

I recently demoed the SN/FC2x and SN/FC2x/250 (my older amp. After this personally I really can't see the value of spending that kind of money on a 250-2 for what I perceive to be the quality improvement over the amp in the SN. Hope this helps Smile

Hi Robbert,
Nice to see someone from R'dam where I have spent 1.5 years taking my master degree there!
I rarely talk here but I did have some experence on SN(but not bi-amping).It is a great amp, however, I tried several cd and dvd players to go with its internal dac and none of them can compete with my bare CDX2.Thus I also think you may hold the breath on the bi-amp idea until you upgrade your cdp. It's all worthwhile.Don't know about your speakers, currently I am using Sonus Faber Electa Amator and my humble Nait 5i drives them just fine. When driven by (loaned)SN,they sing like angels!EA1 is not quite easy load so I think SN can go with most speakers just fine.I am now saving up to upgrade to SN(then XPS2).
My 2 cents...

I question whether you have good speakers if you can't hear the difference between SB3/SN DAC and CDX2/XPS!

If that is a way you see your system going on the future I suggest you save your money on the 250 and get an HDX (and a new pair of speakers?).

New pair of speakers!!!! Eek Eek Eek Winker

see here my perfect match (clickable):

Also my kids are running around. Easy listening i will do later in the evening.

But for me the gap between CD-player and digital source was/is not worth any more. There will be a gap, of course.
