Sunday morning and it was time for something completely different. An early morning trip inland to Rhonda to beat the heat and the crowds. A nice trip through the mountains with some expert driving by Frank and a stop of for a very nice Spanish breakfast, coffee and tomatoes on toast, loverly J Plenty of stops were made for opportunities of photo’s which will follow.

A leisurely trip through Rhonda with views of the gorge and the churches made a nice break.

Then followed another leisurely drive through the Spanish countryside to the coast where we viewed marbela and then headed over back over towards mallaga in search of a good paella. Well you can’t visit Spain without tasting the Paella can you. On the way were plenty of stops for shots of Gibralta and even a view of the African coastline.

Sadly no success in the search for Paella but we did find a very nice restaurant where they served an assortment of fresh local fish, heavenly.

Then it was back to Franks where the serious stuff started again. Anyone who doubts Peters dedication to setting up a system should now be left in no doubt. Peter then spent a good few hours resetting the SBL’s. Frank wanted a little more out of the SBL’s and Peter obliged by carefully moving the speakers first towards the walls and then out again, experimenting with toe in and spike height before finally after many hours he was satisfied with the sound. Massive movements in the speakers were not needed but what adjustments were made had a real improvement on the sound of Franks system.

Then for the rest of the evening a mixture of listening for pleasure and further comparisons of loading plugs for the superline which again are documented on other thread. However please do not be in any doubt that peters opinion on how the various loads have been tested at length and he carefully lets us listen and confirms his opinion before telling us how he thinks they sound. Thus removing any doubt that there could be that Peter manipulates an opinion

Needless to say Franks wife was not present during the weekend, which was a shame as joking aside it would have been very nice to meet her.

Oooops, I didn't mention the second deck that was re-built on saturday morning, with the addition of the New Ekos SE which Peter had such fun with getting through Customs!

Also forgetting one of the decks had a new motor fitted adding to Peters workload Big Grin

That's a world away from here, PB - lovely pic!

Hard to believe you are still in Europe when visiting southern Spain. It's often like this during the winter too!

And sadly onto Monday morning our final day!

Still more time for comparisons, this time attention is turned to optimising the Superline. Is it better powered off 552 or with an external power supply and a hi-line. Fortunatly Peter had brought along a 4-5 pin Hi-line just for Frank to try out. Just how much hi-fi kit can one man bring lol.

The hi-cap has been powered up for most of the time we had been there so it was fully warmed up and Peter connected the hi-cap to the superline and to the 552 via hi-line. Another grinning and smilling session followed by the grimace of “oh heck how do I afford this” look appeared on Franks face. Just to be certain, Frank did try the Lilac din in comparison to the hi-line just to make sure and to be fair the Lilac din gave the hi-line a good run but ultimately the hi-line did what it was designed to do. Play better music better!

So there ended the hi-fi comparisons and I will expand further later if anyone wants me to.

Time once again for something different and another search for a plate of Paella for Mr Bear. Firstly though a trip round the castle seen in the above shot from Franks balcony, well we had to get some exercise which wasn’t easy in the blistering heat. Then finally a restaurant on the edge of Alor awho kindly did a plate of paella for Mr Bear and a happy Dr P got a photo of Mr Bear and a plate of Paella, success!

more piccies will follow Jon, I have just been covering the hi-fi bits.

Frank is very fortunate to live in a very beautifull place Jon. Some of the landscape is breathtaking and I am very glad I have seen it for myself.

Frank was a wonderful host and couldn't do enough for us both and for that I must thank him in appreciation.
