Hi Keith
I use one of these, & think it's well worth the pennies if you are into CD. It doesn't clean the disc surface, but it eliminates the electrostatic charge created in the manufacturing of the disc and through repeated use.
It gives a more natural sound & improves sound stage & tightness of bass IMHE. I use the Dual model. I've heard the effect it has described as giving CD a vinyl quality.
There's loads of info on the Bedini website. I've dealt with them direct & found the service as well as product good.
Cheers - John

They look tacky and work very well. I got the hand-held device off Peter on the strength of a quick home demo. The "desktop" two beam device is easier to use and produces better results, but the quad beam (which is what I now use) is in a different league altogether.
Do a quick search and you will find other comments of mine.
I'd advise you to get a demo and see what you think/hear. But in the mean time ignore the scientific (and other) opinions of people who have read about them but not heard what they do.
Where in the country are you? I know Cymbiosis in Leicester have them to demo.
I have a dual beam one,and they are good value - they do work - I've done a b4 and after with non-hyfye types who noted better balance etc after the cd had been zapped.

After having a demo yesterday at the Audio Counsel:
Excellent device, after clarifying one of your CD's and then playing it, I can liken the difference to adding a XPS2 to a CDX2, or jumping from a NAC202 to a NAC252.
You owe it to yourself to go an listen to the difference, for a small cost (in hi-fi terms) this is one upgrade that is definately worth exploring.
Only disappointment, Dave did not have any in stock yesterday.
I am fascinated - usually i would dimiss such devices as Snake Oil but i trust these opinions and dealers! My only concern is why that great guru RA hasnt started flogging them yet !!
You're right to be suspicious because there's plenty of snake oil out there. I was very cynical when a dealer offered to dem' one for me, but I was stunned by the result & improvement it produced.

The treatment does last more than one play, but it's best to treat both sides of a disc before each play.
You're right they're much cheaper in the USA. I got mine direct from Bedini via their website. Customs missed it so I had no duty/VAT to pay
There is some used equipment, & new with cosmetic blemishes on the Bedini website. Some of these have international shipping included. I think these are a real steal compared to the UK retail price!

On the other hand, a UK dealer wil provide it with an appropriate power suply and offer you quick and easy guarantee back-up, which is not to be sniffed at the. The first hand-held Peter broght me was dead on arrival and the first quad beam I tested had a faulty timer.
If you are getting one, I'd strongly recommend paying the extra for the quad beam.
You don't have to treat the discs absolutely every time you play them - the effect lasts a while.
hi john,do you think it gives c.d a vinyl like quality?[/QUOTE]
Hi 151
I've never been into vinyl (light blue touch paper & stand back ) in deep hi-fi terms because I've always found the inevitable damage/degrade of the medium too distressing.
Apart from what I've said I would describe the result as less harsh & more rounded. I wonder if in removing the static from the disc the device reduces laser read distortion?

Considering how much of an improvement in CD performance a Bendini Clarifier achieves, I'm surprised they don't promote it yet. Naim is selling the Musicline Powerigel (another VFM upgrade IMHO) in their E-store, so perhaps they will in the future.
