All very personal so latge grains of salt required. For me it's the Ruark Talismam - just reintroduced in Mk 3 guise. For you? Who knows! They are detailed, smooth and have great scale. If you listen hard they'll do Hi Fi but what they really like is playing music. Rear ported, slim 2 way floor standers, come in at around £1450. S/H Mk1s are cheap and can be upgrdaded (and checked over) by Ruark to Mk2 spec for about £150 - utterly sublime for the money.
For what that's worth.
Cheers
Harry

I would second the Harbeth vote. Depending on room size and musical taste, ...the mentioned ce7 or even the LS3/5a size ones, which I believe are something like HL3es or something. Check their website, then go hear them...this is a very good company. Also, the good old Spendor ls3/5 's.
Shame on you, NAIMGAIM. No Neat speaker would be caught dead giving a "smooth (sweet/warm) sound." Surgeoner is much too good a musician and designer to ever allow such a thing.

i'd also say look at some b&w's the older cdm series may be just what you are looking for - i use cdm 7nt's and love them, they can rock out when you want them to but don't demand that you pay attention to them all the time if you don't want to (but are rewarding when you do). cheers

True. A speaker recommendation on this forum just wouldn't be complete unless I chimed in and promoted Neat. Heck, a few people have taken my advice and are now really happy!!!

Speedo wonders if Bri Bri be smoking some wacky texan hemp making this suggestion. The Mystiques are as far away from a sweet/warm sound of any speaker I can think of. Go get some Prozacs and leave the Neat's to the He-Men like Bri Bri
Speedo PS: Bri Bri- why did the P9 just go up in price? Those fools!
----------------------------- Speedo likes speakers!!! Speedo says say NO TO BUSH and speedo ain't talking about the female kind, but the YEE HA, gun toting kind that's leading Speedo's country!

Since nobody yet voted for Royd, I will. Have very similar set up (CD5/HiCap/112/150) and enjoy the RR2 although probably not right if you want a 'sweet/warm' sound. Quad (22L) may suit you better or, to throw a new one into the discussion, audition the JM Lab (Cobalt 816)

The warmest speakers I've heard with this set up is the Castle Conway 3. Highly recommended for longer periods of listening, as long as they haven't sent you to sleep. Actually, I rather liked them and if you truly want "warm and sweet" you could do a lot worse. Even if the sound disappoints, they are a joy to look at!

Why not try Sonus Faber Concertinos? They are renowned for their beautiful melodious sound - or if you are feeling wealthy try Cremona Auditors - I have Cremonas with a 102/180 and CD3.5. Lovely!Don't worry about the 'Mullet' boys - SFs complement and compliment any good front end like yours.
