Whilst my 82 is "going home" for some TLC. I propose to "borrow" my sons NAIT 5 and use the pre amp part.
I just want to confirm that the links are removed and the SNAIC 5 from Hi-Cap goes to Sig Out A on the NAIT.
No phono stage unfortunately.

You might just want to use th nait 5 basic or with the HiCap; the preamp is the weakest part of the nait 5.
look here for the connect a hicap diagram

Thanks Peter but that manual only shows a FC2 connect. I'll assume the pre part of the 5 will go on the SNAIC5 that was going to the 82 from the Hi.
I have couple of weeks to actually wait before this is to be implemented.

That's the ticket. I'm concerned that with a 250, you'll have the window too wide open. That it may be better to gloss over some details, by using the nait 5 as it is.

A good point, but being a basically lazy sod and the 82 sits on the top of the support it will only require couple of changes and will leave speakers and "stuff" down the back alone. Smile

That should have read speaker LEADS and "stuff" down the back alone. Of course!
Plus it "should" only be for a couple/3 weeks I've been told.

Howard,
Just a thought why dont you send it to HQ when you are in the USA?
You would not need to mess around with the Nait.
Unless Naim take there summer break then as well.

BigH, to answer your question, YES, the 5-pin SNAIC connected to socket 4 of your Hicap should be plugged into Signal Out A on the Nait5. This is described more clearly on page 9. Just imagine the flatcap's 4 central connections as being the four connections on the Hicap.

Frank.
