Hi all,
I've just found the following link and noticed that it was reviewed really well by three hifi magazines: IsoTek Mini Sub Would this item therefore improve my modest Naim system, or am I better just sticking with my Grahams Hydra lead? Many thanks, Jon This message has been edited. Last edited by: Adam Meredith, |

Thats because you were in Surrey they get to Kent a month before End of July or August. So we know they will be out in time for Christmas |

If you really need a mains conditioner then try a regenerator rather than a filter, but please insist on a home trial and a deal where if you are not satisfied then you can return it.

I would try a dem as outhers have said, but I think if it were me I would put the money towards a 282 and trade in the 202.I got to hear a 282/supercap the outher day and just thought it's a good league ahead from a 202.
the sourse was a cdx2/xps2 and the power amp a 250.2...now that is a sound I could live with,if only the wallet could stretch.Mike |

I just said get a 282 he has a Hicap2 to power it and is a fine power choice for now. my piont re 282 is its so much cleaner sounding than a 202 which is also a fine amp,but the bottleneck in his system cdx2/xps2/202/Hicap/300.Mike

No mention of mains spur in profile - this would be my recommendation as best value upgrade from where you're at. Then 282.

Hi Jon
A contentious issue, but you've a fine Naim system, not a modest one IMHO! Have you seen the Toroid Hum Thoughts thread? There is some related info' here which might help you. I agree with Svetty; consider getting a dedicated mains spur 1st if you don't already have one. Cheers - John |

Thanks for all your comments. I love the Naim community as a source of advice.
As it happens, my system will be upgraded soon as Im awaiting two replacement items. I will then upgrade my profile to: CDS3+XPS+Hiline NAC282+NAPSC+Hicap2 NAP300 B&W805s Im excited about this but will not be able to upgrade further for a while. That was the impetus for asking the question about mains conditioners. Now, I will be buying a Supercap when I next get funds to raise the NAC282 to its height. I know my NAP300 requires a NAC252 but this is out of my budget!! It does lead me on to a question, however. When I get the SC2 it would have to be mounted on its side due to space restrictions. I'll attach a picture below, so you can see my problem. Now I know another Hicap2 will fit well on top of the current one, but I understand the SC2 to put the NAC282 in a different league. Would I be damaging the SC2 if I used it mounted on its side? Kind regards, Jon ![]() |

In order to fully optimize you're new system you realy need side by side, braun and brains stacking in my view. however it seems you want to use the alcove,(a) can the system not be moved (you could store lots of music cds on full shelvs instead of the floating ones).(b) If the system has to go in the alcove you need to stack higher and if this is the only place for the kit I would look at replacement of the floating shelvs for a full with shelf on side battons, with a gap at the rear for i/c/power supply leads and place the 282 there.
This would mean you coud have the cdp on the top seat on the rack or a fraim and fit all the outher boxes in the rack. I personaly would not place any Naim box on its side,I am sure Naim would'nt recomend it.Let us know how you get on.best wishes .Mike |

Thanks for your advice, Mike!
I agree with what you are saying and I also feared you say this!! The problem I have is that my other half decides on aesthetics and my gorgeous system is forced into that alcove. I do take your point about the shelving, however, so I may have to keep building up and put the CDs in a cupboard or something. I think my long term upgrade plan will also include changing the XPS for a 555PS, but before then Im excited about receiving the CDS3+NAC282! Thanks again for your tips. Jon |

I have just added an Isotek G2 Titan and changed all my mains leads for Isotek Supremes. If you can get a home demo. I am totally convinced that in my particular circumstance this was a huge upgrade to my system, even though purists may be appalled. The Titan has had a huge positive impact on all aspects of my system's sound. |
