What is the forum recommendation for such a power strip. I heard about Furutech, Oyaide, acrolink, kemp electronics ... and there are others as well crystal, siltech
any experience on the topic?

If it's for a Naim system, just get a Graham's hydra and put a continental plug on it. Or, for more money try the powerigel.

The Kemp Elektroniks power strip is not star earthed and implies filtering.

The Kemp is star earthed. It's star wired too.

I have one and it's excellent. Really good build quality with very good EMI/RFI shielding. It uses parallel (shunt) filtering that works well. Especially if your mains is noisy/dirty. With a clean(er) mains supply as I have with a dedicated spur it sounds better without filtering and protection so I've ripped everything out. Smile

I doubt it, If you look closely at the picture you can see that the earthing wires (and the live and neutral wires) have different lenghts. Whereas with the powerigel the lenght of all the wires is the same.

In my view star earted or wired is that the wires originate (and/or return) from one single point. The internal wiring is not of equal length in the KE Power Strip.

That is true, I was wrong. The kemp power strip is indeed star earthed.

Sorry guys: a few neophit questions:
a) what is the definition of star wired vs star-grounded/earthed? Any good article on the topic? I did not know there was a difference!
b) What is the interest respectively of the two?
I was told that with a star wired power strip, the other components do not see and get polluted by the digital components
c) what Naim recommend for its products?

PS: for the powerigel, I do not like the fact that you cannot change the power cords, even if this makes an additional connector necessary
PS2: I also look for a pure hi-quality power strip with no filtering at all, even parallel

The pic of the KE Powerstrip above shows star wiring (and earthing). As said, in the context of a powerstrip it's that the life, neutral and earth wires originate from one point (hence 'star'), at the entry of the case at the IEC connector. This is the preferable way, it sounds best.

The aren't too many high quality, simple star wired powerstrips without filters, switches and other 'stuff' in it around that I know of. Simple seems hard to sell. But don't get blinded or fooled by marketing blab for fancy stuff from Oyaide etc. I've had the (expensive) Siltech Octopus too and it was horrible.

What is your budget?

Richard.
PS I feel the same way about the Powerigel. Plus it's an awkward big thing to put near your system.

I am using Wireworld Matrix strip. It has no filter, switch, fuse or whatsoever which will deteriorate the sound, only qulality plugs and wires.I find it works quite well with Naim gears. It costs me less than 80 pounds here.

Hi KTMax,
I currently have the crystal power box which is without filter and anything and is star-grounded and cabled with crystal ultra wires, works good but I need an additional power strip (with US plugs to connect US plug version of expensive power cords (they are cheaper and directly available from the US than Schuko plug version)).
I found so far furutech e-TP609 and e-TP4+4, Oyaide MTB-6, and may be acoustic revive RTP-4 ultimate (for this one, I do not know yet if it is star-wired).
Any other suggestions? Budget not a problem.
Thanks,
Richard

Well in that case... The Cardas Powerstrip with Golden Cross cabling is the most amazing I've ever heard. Jawdropping. But it costs about the same as an entry Naim system... Big Grin

Not the same thing–Noisetrapper NANA uses captive power cable, same as used on shipping units from Naim.

I use a Siltech Octopus sans its captive mains lead. (substituted by a Tibia/WattaGate connector)

The main benefit of the powerigel is that the leads are cold whelded together which lowers the resistance of the cable. If you could use your own leads as you can with the kemp power strip it would increase the resistance removing one of its strongest points. You could also custom order your powerigel with 4 leads if you only have 4 items to power.
