I've been considering upgrading from an Ekos 1 to
the SE. I've already done the Keel and Trampolin.
Would love to hear other experiences and opinions
about the SE upgrade. The last thing I want is a more clinical sound. Warm and rich for me. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Coleman

Go and hear one. It is a massive upgrade on the 2. Sounds wonderful. Everything comes alive like never before. Worth every penny IMO.

I wish I could hear one. No opportunity in the Bay Area - you have to plunge blind unfortunately.

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago from Ekos2 to SE. It was installed by Peter of Cymbiosis that at the same time tuned my LP12. Major upgrade, but are not sure how much was the SE and how much was the tuning by our doc.....

HBerg,

How would you describe the improvement?

Better dynamics, clearly more details, more space, more realness, higher S/N ratio, more tuneful, all in all a much more musical reproduction where the musicians really play together and to a greater extent than before in the room.
Highly recommended (but as said earlier, I'm sure Dr. P's effort made a major contribution to the result)

And we might get keel for aro at some point, just to even out that comparison point!

Who can tell?

In a similar way to the possiblity of a stamp duty land tax change inhibiting the housing market, if there had not been the possibility of an aro/keel I would probably have already have added a keel to my LP12.

Although I am tempted by the Linn summer price discount on the keel knowing what my current preference is, I would rather have a listen as and when the aro/keel becomes available - just to be sure either way.

I find it sad you can't hear the differences for yourself Frown I'm just putting the finishing touches to a fourth LP12 for an LP12 open day ... Aro, Akiva vs Ekos Se, Akiva vs Ekos Se, Keel, Akiva and an Ekos 2 Akiva thrown in for good measure...... So why can't someone do it your side of the pond? Confused Anyway, the difference is huge. Versus the Ekos 1, you can expect far more boogie factor, loads more detail, more punch and also a much sweeter sound IMHO, certainly not clinical by comparison to the Ekos 1.

As for Jon's suggestion....... patience please.... WIP Winker

Kind regards,

Peter

Yes, ok, it's all about having choice Chris. The battle is over and I'm happy to say, I finally seem to have got my way.

Currently, two of my Aro's are north of the border for evaluations....

This does not mean we'll get an Aro Keel. But if it all works out and there are significant sonic benefits, then...... everyone benefits! Cool

So, as I said, it's work in progress currently.

Kind regards,

Peter

You cant get a better answer to the ARO Keel question than that.
Power to the people that wanted this, And one man that has put a lot of work into getting it to this point.

Well done Peter.

I'm slightly surprised that Linn don't have their own Aro to evaluate though!

I do hope that it is a genuine evaluation exercise and they decide to produce the aro keel if it does have sonic benefits.

It most cetainly is and let's wait and see. If it doesn't, then there is no point in producing it. - At least we get to find out one way or the other now.
