It's because of the way Naim wire the cables up - which might have something to do with 250 compatibility (not sure as I've never used a 250). What I find really odd is why they need left and right connectors on the 135s AND red and green marked leads. One or the other should be entirely sufficient.

Thanks Patrick. I thought it was something obvious and I was going mad. So they have additional sets of sockets - just so they can use a similar lead to the 250? That isn't carried through to the speaker leads though because the plugs are mirrored on a stereo amp! Mysterious.

No Laurie, just unplugged everything and tuned the rack, dusted and cleaned the boxes, cleaned all the contacts etc. I find it good to re-level everything from scratch every once in a while. With 7 shelves on spikes, and the rack itself on spikes, it takes some time.

Hi Rasher
Depending how old your 135's are; the interconnects used to be wired so that either cable would work either channel.
Later; Naim channel coded them by not connecting the unused wire for that channel in the 3 pin 'Canon' plug.
It thus became a tweak on older leads to snip the unused wire for each channel in the 'Canon' plug.
I did mine at the time. As ever, consult with your dealer - the relevant information came from mine at the time.
John.
P.S. I've realised from your most recent post that you probably have 6 of the blighters in active configuration. Thus; I'm not sure if my information is still relevant?
Martin Payne can probably answer this.
Martin?

JN speaks soothly.
Naim could have moved over to a single socket once the left/right-handed cables became available, but the investment in re-tooling could not be justified.
cheers, Martin
