What are you Nait 2 owners using for speakers?

Also, when going with stand mounted types, do you fill the stands with sand ( I have Sound Org. S570's)-

...could start a whole other thread on that one I suspect...

Thanks -

I used Linn Kans for a long time with a Nait 2, until I upgraded the amp, then I continued using the Kans Big Grin
Some people will say Kans need a minimum of a NAP250 to give of their best, but even Kans at 80 per cent are better than most speakers at 100 per cent

This is true; when Naim finally get to a selling a surround loudspeaker I hope it's kan-like, but updated.

If you've got room to pull them well away from the rear and side walls and remove the bungs from the ports Epos ES14's work well and can go suprisingly loud with the Nait 2.
I never found the Nait lacking when driving these speakers.

I also used Kans for a while with my Nait-2.
Eventhough the Kan's are known to be pigs to drive (around 83db) they are a classic 80's combo and will work fine with a Nait-2 in a small room.

Well, I also tried some other speakers with my Nait-2, like the entry-level and only standmount speakers from AudioNote (600,- euro a pair)
They were better imho then the Kans.
(look kinda boring, ugly and cheap though)

The Monitor Audio Studio-2 is also a remarkeble speaker. They're very easy to drive and sound very dynamic and fast.
(although a litle edgy and metallic at times)

The last spaker I tried on my Nait-2 are the speakers that I still use now:
Diapason Micra MKII.
The leave the Kan's for dead.
They sound very open (no filter!), detailed and give a wide and deep soundstage and are easy to drive.

regards,
Alco

I use Neat Mystique's 2 at the end of a CD3.5/Flatcap/Nait2 and I love them.

Mind you they need some space around them and in my smallish room, I hardly use the volume control higher than 11 o'clock which is loud enough for me Smile

Cheers,

Pedro

I use Dynaudio Audience 52 at the end of a CD3/Karik III/Nait2/NACA5. These speakers are rather hungry but the Nait drives them lovely.

I've run my SBL's off a Nait2; and it sounded great. Clearly the 17wpc(?) little gem doesn't like very difficult or inefficient speakers, but within its limits; it seems to handle most speakers with aplomb.

The only time you'll encounter problems, is when you expect too much volume. The sound compresses and you might damage your speakers.

The audible warning signs should be fairly obvious.

I've run my KEF Reference 2-2 off a Nait2 in a 50 metersquare size room and it sounded great. KEF Reference are fair big 30kg standamount speakers, but the Nait2 is such an amazing great amp! Of course, like JN mentioned, if you push up the volume too much the sound compresses.

Hi,

I've recently sidegraded from a 52/SC/250 to a Nait 2. I say "sidegraded" because for the better part the bigger amps didn't really add much to the music in my system.

Anyway, I've found that the Nait 2 has a particular liking for sensitive, lower impedance speakers - I'm using a pair of Audio Physic Virgo mkIII which are 90db sensitive and a 4 ohm load. Basically, they're a fairly benign load and the Nait copes admirably.

I wouldn't really recommend speakers any less sensitive than this as the Nait will have to work hard and will then compare less well to bigger amps.

I have a theory that the Nait 2 has a narrow window of operating parameters wherein it reduces the gap between itself and 'better' amps to such a small margin it makes little sense to persist with the more expensive 'better' amps. In my experience, the magic numbers are 90-92dB/W and 4-6 ohms. Crazy, maybe, but that's what I've found.

Oh, the Nait also works well with Royd Doublets. Which coincidentally are 90dB and 6 ohms Wink

I use my Nait 2 with LS3/5a:s in my "home cinema" setup. Works well, but not loud. I've also tried the Nait 2 in my "music system" replacing 82/Hi/180, driving Royd RR3:s. Made me wonder if it's realy worth spending more on the amp.

You've got that into a Nait2?! Wow, I guess I'd better stop worrying about upgrading from a 62-Hi-140 then! (LP12-Lingo-Aro-DV20XL; 3.5 & Fcap; NAT03)

Rega Ela might work well into a Nait...

Steve.

It's a grand old team to play for...

My DBLs were also perfectly happy off the same NAIT2 (mine, now).

Since these are 92dB sensitivity, I had an unexpected problem - they need to be played surprisingly loud to get them out of the "quiet zone" on the NAIT2, where the channel balance is crap.

52/active is a lot better, although it has been somewhat of a struggle to get the forest of boxes to release their potential.

cheers, Martin

I used to run a pair of Epos ES 14's off my nait 2 and loved them. Recently upgraded to a pair of Harbeth HL-PES2's and am very very pleased. The nait 2 does fine with the Harbeth as long as I do not turn it up too loud. But what is does is amazing. Can't say much about the stands as I am currently disappointed with what I have - a pair of quadraspire speaker stands - which was a result of my wife not wanting anything too obtrusive. I am currently looking with a better stand for the Harbeths

I´ve been using Linn Keilidhs with my Nait2 for ten years now, and have not really been tempted to upgrade yet. I have spent the money on records instead since it´s been so fun listening to music on my system. I auditioned the Nait2 with a pair of Kans which also sounded good but I felt they needed a very small room to perform their best.
