I have a Cyrus 3 amp and Cario Syntar speakers with stands. I am thinking of buying a CD5. Is this a good idea with my equipmet? Thanks for the help.

Yes. Buy it.
Borrow your dealer's dem model over a weekend if you're feeling cautious. Don't forget you'll need a phono lead too. Be aware that if you do this, you are very likely to end up parting with money. The CD5 takes about a fortnight (IME) of constant repeat from new to get into its stride – a new example from stock will initially sound quite different from the one you borrowed. Thanks Mark. I think I will bite the bullet and spend the money. I have never owned such an expensive CD player, so I am looking forward to the experience. I got bitten when I inherited a NAT02 tuner and heard sound I had never heard before coming out of my speakers. Judging by most people on this list, my worries about spending £1K+ are trivial, given the cost of some of this equipment.
Best wishes |
