am about to buy a nait 2 Smile
however, it has never been serviced. Therefore I'd have a couple of questions:
1- what does a nait 2 servicing consist in?
2- is it worth having it done?
3- what is the cost?

thanks
JC

Jean,
Any Nait 2 must be at least 10 years old and if never serviced, then its a must !
This makes the s/h value low IMO, but certainly worth the service/cost and waiting for this exceptionel amplifier.
Regards
Per

I paid £40 for a Nait 2 service including new logo light, power chord, caps, a bloody good clean and pot-adjustment (whatever that is).

Worth every penny. Before it was done the Nait 2 was a decent if unspectacular amp. Afterwards it gave a 52/SC/250 a very close run for the money in my system, much to my complete astonishment.

John,
I'm surpriced the charge was £40 only, recently I quoted Naim for a Nap110 service, recall it was around £130-170 or so.

Anyway, £40 is a bargain for servicing a bargain amp Razz

Per, I was buying a Helikon cart, a Cirkus kit and an Armageddon PSU at the same time, so it could be that I got the update at parts cost alone, I don't know.

What I can say is that even if it had cost twice as much or even more, it would have been well worth the expense.

Forgive me for stating the obvious - why don't you simply ring the factory and then you will hear it from the horse's mouth? I did this and had a very good conversation which taught me a lot about Naim kit, I then took an amp in to them. I was happy with the cost and the results.

I can't recall what I paid for a nait2 service from the factory back in '99 or 2000; what I can say is that it made a *huge* difference, and is instilled in my memory as being *thoroughly* worthwhile.
