happy christmas!

all this talk about how the cd5/nait 5/(nap500 too?) have a new, more detailed sound makes me wonder if it's true. ie. older naim components gave Prat above all else, sometimes to the point of delivering monochrome black and white tones.

IS IT TRUE? if so, how do the components rank, are the oldest components eg. NAP250, most palette restricted, compared to 135s for example? and which components(cd players, pres, powers) are most guilty?

btw, what is the most accurate way of describing this, 'tonal compression'? 'excessive neutrality'?
