I've just discovered that taking the phono boards out of my 82 improves the other sources. It is powered by a Supercap (running on a PP9 battery; if you've been paying attention!)
So; I want to use the rotating vinyl grinder without degrading the performance of my CDS2. I'm thinking Stageline (to keep the price down) and Hi-Cap (as it's better than a Flat-Cap 1 or 2); but the Naim price list does not list a Stageline among the items that can be powered by a Hi-Cap. I suppose I ought to go Prefix/Hi-Cap or Stageline/Flat-Cap2. Any thoughts on this one? |

Juan--
Try to get a Prefix with a Hicap--much better than phono boards in 82/SC or 52/SC. Cheers, Bob |

I'm pretty sure you CAN power a stageline with a hicap.

Juan,
A freind has an 82 and discovered that unplugging ANY and all sources not currently in use cleaned the sound up markedly (fully Naimed LP12 & CDX sources). The added bonus is that this "tweak" is no-cost ,fully reversable,V easy,V.effective, and no modifications are needed. Regards |

Since my Rega3 is really a secondary source ( <10%), I will be using my old Nait2's phono stage, and take it out through the tape loop into the 82. It is also the cheapest solution for me, nothing additional except a specially soldered interconnect.
