....Stretch to the Superline yet. I have this Quad Twenty Four P on loan at the moment. Used with my LP12/SME/DVd3 It is quite exceptional. Compaired to my DV-P75 which is a fantastic phonostage in it's own right, this Quad can show you what can be done with valves when done properly.
The soundstage opens up and the detail is quite remakable. Fully adjustable for MM/MC's and can be used as a standalone vinyl pre with a sutable power amp. Asthetics alone don't win prizes but the old saying 'wolf in sheeps clothing' comes to mind. ![]() |

I'd like to hear the IOS, but it's not quite as flexible as the Superline since it has a limited number of preset loadings. There aren't even as many options as many other configurable phono stages. Given the amount of work they've done on the IOS it seems a shame that they've only configured it for 5 load settings between 50 and 400 ohms. That said, they take care of something that isn't dealt with elsewhere, which is the resistance setting of the cartridge. So it is an interesting development from Rega.
And now they've got a new Elicit amplifier - wonder what that's like? Regards, Frank. All opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of any organisations I work for, except where this is stated explicitly. |
