I don't know about the Devore's but I'm using MFS's at the end of a nap250.
I mailed Neat last year with a question about amp's and they told me they had customers using a 200 and MFS's with good results. The general consensus on this forum about MFS's is that they "need" a 300 at the least. I can only say that my 250 copes very well with the speakers. Wonderful sound. |

Never heard the Devore Gibbons 9's so cannot comment on them but my MFSs work well on the end of my 250 too.
Excellent speakers and I cannot envisage me changing them ever. I have had them in two different rooms in different houses and they worked brilliantly in both. They do need space around them to work at their best. I believe they used a 250 (amongst other power amps) when they developed them. I have also tried them with my 140 when I was playing with bi-amping. That worked surprisingly well but I suspect that the 140 was working quite hard. |

DeVore is almost unheard of in the UK, so this forum is going to be of little help I fear. I do know someone with a Rega system who absolutely loves his Gibbon 8's - which he's just come to via Totem Rainmakers and Rega R5s.
Regards, Frank. All opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of any organisations I work for, except where this is stated explicitly. |

Well, I run DeVore Nines, my amplification being NAC282/Supercap/200, and I find them about as near to perfect as I can imagine. Previously I owned Linn speakers (various) and I auditioned Quad Electrostatics and the Dynaudio range among other possibilities. The Nines' balance and integration are faultless, and they are the only speakers I have auditioned where I'm totally happy with the reproduction of piano – something which everyone who has heard them comments on. Quite a few speakers do well with voice, and the Nines give voice full presence, but to do equally well with voice and piano, well, I haven't heard anything comparable. They get percussion and bass just right too (my son is blissed out by drum'n'bass on them), and they can roar if need be. Simply, they sound natural right through the range. Also they are beautifully finished (I bought a premium finish, but the standard are excellent).
Tom Tom Audio distribute them here (I bought mine in the States) so they shouldn't be quite so unknown as suggested, nor impossible to audition. |

Hi Mattdcb
I have heard the Gibbon 9's on a couple of occasions but always on the end of tube amps, but will certainly work with Naim amps. For me the sound they produced was magical, when I look at my next speaker change they will definitely be near the top of my audition list. I don't think that they are that difficult to drive so a 200, 250, will probably do it. The distributor in the UK is James at TomTom Audio I believe, sure you could arrange a dem. the G9's are fab. Cheers Jez |

I had a pair of Devore Gibbon Super 8s in a 282/250 system a few years back. They sounded superb at the dealer's, but in my living room they came off as flat and lifeless. I still don't know why. My advice is get a home audition if possible (of course this applies to all speakers).
I've been telling my wife for some time that I'd be getting a promotion... At last! |

Hi,
Strangely, as Devore will tell you and although it is the smaller model the Super 8's are far more sensitive to room posititioning than the 9's and careful experimentaion always pays off with the 8's. I haven't found a room yet where the 9's have not sang their hearts out. Cheers James |

IME te Neats are *incredibly* room dependent. Seagull has a pair and they sound stunning, but in my room with supposedly better electronics ( not no spur ) they just did not work.
