Hi If the shipment weighs 2-10kgs then you can send it via Royal Mail special delivery. You can top up the standard insurance of 500 gbp up to 2000gbp for a couple of pounds. It costs about 23gbp and delivery is by 1300 the next working day.
If the shipment weighs up to 20kgs you can use the standard parcels service. This takes 3-5 working days.
I've used both of the above Royal Mail services and I've found them to be very reliable.
However I usually book through Interparcel who use DHL and UPS. I've shipped hundreds of hifi all over the world and I've only had a couple of negative experiences.
I recently shipped an XPS2 to Italy via Interparcel for 45gbp, I think it'd cost about 30gbp within the UK. You arrange it all online and the courier collect. Hope this helps. Alan

Wrap the box in an outer layer of brown wrapping paper and mark clearly in capitals. You're probably looking at £15 for the UK.

I've always used Initial city link to send within the UK. Just stick the box up with tape, write the address on a small piece of paper and tape it on. The courier will produce a delivery note. Cost is about £15.
