Re your lovely system, Do you test other speaker cable on that, such as Yter or Siltech?

Arthur,

Geoff had taken with him the pair of Chord Signature he owns. To tell the truth, with the superb music we got, we completely forgot about trying different speaker cables. After Stefan, Mark and Felix left on Sunday which was the fourth day, I remember Geoff telling me that there was no point bothering with the Chord Signature, because everything sounded SO right and beautifull, with an incredible balance.
Well after some talks we thought we might as well tried the Signature since they made the trip to Paris....and we swapped the Naca5 for the Chord.

Right from the beginning I thought the music was less engaging, it seemed like some sparkle had gone, I was not happy, Geoff thought the same way, we put the Naca back.

I think the Naca5 are just right for the SF.Amatis Anniversario, I just love the sound I have and I'm not going to bother with Yter cable or Siltech.
...my only concern now is the music, more and more music to play! Big Grin

Regards,
Edouard

That's the ultimate state of mind in this hobby. But usually only temporary... Big Grin

At some point I do think that your beautiful system justifies some experimentation with this Edouard. Naim too has finally and successfully entered the arena of cable witchcraft with the Hi- and Power-line. But there are lot of other respected companies making excellent cables, some even for decades.

Richard.

I second that, Richard.

Edouard, I believe you have a gorgeous system that so many of us aspire to (me definitely!), but the nature of being an audiophile means that there's always an ounce of curiousity!!!

What I mean here is - and I apologise for my naivety - but can you go active with your NAP300s and Amatis??

Perhaps that is not possible, but what about adding a really high quality sub-woofer that matches the Amatis?

I read your previous posts and understand your preference of the 300 over the 500 as I guess 'synergy' is the key.

Oh well, keep enjoying and Im going back to dream land!

Kind regards

Jon

Big Grin

Richard,

You really need to have been there for the weekend to appreciate what Edouard's setup was doing. From my side, there were no nagging questions going through my mind, just too busy listening to the music that we all brought along. As Stefan said (I think) I could also listen to hours and hours and hours... OK this was a weekend and we were all away having fun, relaxed etc which is a very important ingredient to enjoy music.

If I were getting good results like that consistently, I would not change a thing. Then again, the (500 Big Grin) itch is always there I'm sure and at some time inevitably will get scratched.

Cheers
Mark

Hi Edouard
This is a remarkable set of posts, demonstating great friendships bound by a love of music. Thanks for sharing these intimate photos of your home, your friends and your Naim/Amati pride and joy. I am listening to Joey DeFrancesco as I write, wishing that I could share these sounds with you and also visit you in Paris. The 552 is missing but the music is very fine none the less.
Very best regards from BC

David,

Thanks for the kind words! I believe friendship is very important in life.
Too bad you are so far from Vancouver otherwise I would have drop by during the summer time.
Maybe you'll come to Paris some day!
Never heard about Joey De Francesco...

Best wishes from Paris,
Edouard

Stuart,

Not sure the Amati's would fit in this van!
Anyway, I already went 3 times to Eindhoven and it's still Geoff's turn to come, as he only came twice! Winker

35 years ago I used to do this sort of thing on a regular basis with my student mates, when we aspired perhaps to Leak speakers, maybe a Quad amp, of course a Pioneer PL12D with a Shure M75EJ cartridge. Wonderful times. Oh how I wish I could be with you guys as you do this. Please keep us well informed.

What a fantastic place this board can be.

Edouard

Those Amati's are visions of utter beauty, the folk at Sonus Faber are craftsmen extraordinaire. I had some GP's and loved them. The Guarneri's are also stunning to look at and listen to.

A wonderful system..............Jez

Wow, they are serious boxes! Imagine trying to get the empties into your loft space. Were they being delivered or was that just done to prove they would fit?
