Just thought that I'd give a quick update to my recent posts.

Having returned to my old Linn axis and vinyl collection using a cheap Project phono stage, I was so impressed with the sound quality, that I have upgraded to a new Stageline. And again have been pleased with the further improvements !

However, the bad news is that redundancy now looms on the near horizon, so the plan to upgrade the deck to a Majik LP12 has now been put on hold. Still, I guess I'll have more time to listen to my system whilst job hunting.

Glad to hear you have rediscovered your vinyl, Nigel.

Is there potential of a redundancy payout? My LP12 was purchased after just such an event (my Dad's in 1982). These things can sometimes work out well.

Hopefully you will find another job soon.

Best wishes

Mark

Nigel, good to see you returning to your Linn Axis. I used to have the same deck many years ago and it is still a great sounding source. More importantly I hope you can find another job you like. Redundancy is a sad thing, it happened to me 5 years ago, but I was fortunate to land on my feet with a better job. I hope things work out for you mate.

Ian.

Nigel,

Please respond to munch's post as I do know a person in the New Castle area who owns a business. You never know, I may be able to drop a line and give a lead. Have ou ever applied at the Caterpillar plant in the Leicester area, or is it the Peterlee plant that is close to New Castle?

I was made redundant three years ago - it can make you feel like shit at first but then you never know, it can open doors to new and better things. Hopefully you'll get a reasonable payout to tide you over for a bit.

All the very best of luck and hopefully something will turn up soon.

Thanks for all the kind messages. I have the misfortune of working for Northern Rock in commercial finance (pls be kind - it wasn't my / most of the staffs fault !). You'd be amazed at how much hostility is aimed towards the staff at the moment.

Yes - there is likely to be a redundancy payment, but will have to be very careful with a 2 year old and another due in November. If I can find a new job, then yes, an LP12 is still on the wish list.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind thoughts and as they say "onwards and upwards" (hopefully).
