I've just bought my new BW 805s speakers and would like to have some advice if a Naim cd player and amplifier is a good match for the 805s. And if yes what model is a good match for them. Thanks!

some years ago I had the opportunity to listen to a Naim Nait 5i + CD5i at a 805S. This was quite a good match. It revealed much of the "spirit" of music to me and I much favoured it over a combination marantz SA/PM15 or Rotel RA1070/RCD1062 at the same speaker. Therefore you may check this combi.

Actually I have a Naim Supernait playing with a B&W 804S and I appreciate this combination.

A CDX2 and a SuperNait will do well with your 805s

A CDX2 would be a great match, but I figure you need some 'oomph' in the power amp department, as I have the 805s myself and they only came to sing when I fed them more power.

If you can bi-amp with a SuperNait you're on to a winner. If not a NAC202+NAP200 or a NAP250.2.......

Me too (only difference was the source, being a CDX) I thought it was a poor match.

The sound was rather boring, liveless, lacking in detail, sparkle and dynamics.

As much as I like the Nait-5i, I think the N805 deserves (read: demands) more power.

for about 4 years now I'm listening every day to the nait 5i, cd 5i and B&W N805 and I still not regret the decision I went that road....
Sure there is always better and more expensive, but in a not too big room the Nait 5i delivers music in spades, that's my humble opinion...

I haven't heard that combination myself but I guess it will do a very good job with the 805s. I have the 805s myself ( together with a REL sub) in a rather large room and my aim is to end up with a CDX2 and a Supernait
