Just recieved the Jan/Feb issue of hi-fi+ magazine, there's a full review of the CD5, Nait5 and Flatcap2 - nicely written, makes a good read and some pretty photos too!
"Hi Fi +" is allegedly available at some Tower Records and Borders stores in the US but I've never been able to find a copy there. I traded a copy of "Listener" to a guy in Canada for sole issue of "Hi Fi +" I've read.
Subscriptions can be ordered from the magazine's web site: "Hi Fi +" web site
A 1 year subscription will cost us Yanks UKP46.00 or US$67.67 at today's exchange rate. It's a good magazine, I guess I should just order a sub and quit bitching about their North American distribution.
On the subject of UK audio magazines, is "Audio Quarterly" dead? I only saw one issue but it was stunning, surely the most handsome hi fi magazine I've seen. And I'm still mourning the death of "Audiophile"; L. J. K. Setright was by far the best writer who has ever appeared in an audio magazine.

Never knew LJKS wrote for any magazine apart from "Car" (UK) in the late 70s, but those peices were so good as to be undateable even now. Certainly never knew he ever wrote anything for an "audio" magazine, although I do remember a piece involving an early 60s E-type Jaguar, and a quest to get a friend's turntable from London to Glasgow quickly, so I suppose it adds up.
Anyone know if this sage is still writing?
Best;

Mr. Setright seems to be still writing; he has an article titled "The Father of Mercedes" in the January 2001 issue of the US magazine "Automobile". His well - received book "Mini - the Design Icon of a Generation" was published in August '99.
Someday perhaps we'll see an anthology of his work.

It seems to be unfair to me that when Ian criticized the CD5 compare to the CD3.5 (to his opinion) you were very angry with him but when you find something that you think it matches your opinion or the idea of what we must think about Naim - you are rushing to tell us about it.

It's true - I've seen it at several Tower Records in the SF Bay Area - but you have to be patient. I think it's a fun enough read that I plan for a subscription once I get my new address in order (I hate switching subscription addresses - I always seem to lose an issue).
Cheers

Just got my Nait5. 72 sleepless hours, I love Naim, I love Mark Tucker, I love new casework,I love old casework (CD 3.5, retro chic), have you ever heard drums played better????? I love new marketing campaign.But nepotism? Love that too.
Going back to listen to Sam Rivers 'Fuschia Swing Song' 18 year old Tony Williams!!!! Naim The only Sound!! I must get some sleep... may start new thread 'I Hate my Nait'
Barnes and Noble in the US also has them on a fairly regular basis. Occasionally, they 'miss' an issue or two. I've only seen our local Border's stock an issue once in 5 years...

To All in the U.S., I'm in the periodicals business and can tell you that getting any magazine is as easy as asking the "periodicals manager" of any bookstore to special-order it for you. Stockage of magazines is determined by returns to the publisher. In other words if people only read the item in the store and don't buy it, they won't restock it. Make sure you have the proper title of the magazine and its publisher. Also, they sometimes have older or damaged copies in their back rooms waiting for people like me to give them credit.
