For those that don't know, there is a free Naim CD Sampler on the front of Hi-fi News. It even has a CD case and notes. 3.25 UKP = BARGAIN. Pity the magazine seems to be going down hill though!

Cheers

Chris.

The sampler disc is worth having if you find a copy of HiFi News: a varied selection of good quality recordings.

In the newsagent it looks like there had been an assault by the local school-kids: only one of the copies of HiFi News had a sampler CD attached!

Re your comments about the mag - yes, I'd agree. I've been away from the audio hardware for a couple of years, and it looks like HiFi World is the only mag that suits me after all this time. They have even embraced 'computer audio' - which is interesting considering their die-hard love of the valve. I do have a slightly 'biased' attitude though: about 4 years ago I won won of their competitions (about £1500 worth), which was nice!

I just went to the shop, but there was no Naim-sampler on the december-issue. I know sometimes these samplers don't go overseas, but it didn't even mention anything about a free sampler!
Help me, I want the sampler!

Regards, bas

I've only just bought it - it must be the January 2001 issue (I don't have it here to check). We get our mags at least a month before the date on the cover! Can anyone else confirm this? If you don't get the cover disc overseas, check the magazine website for info.

Or maybe our friendly favourite audio equipment manufacturer could assist you!?!

I bought a copy yesterday after checking whether other copies on the shelf have a disc - as I usually do.

No free sampler discs could be found. Hmmmm.

I noticed that my sampler disc was very loosely attached to the front cover with a couple of sticky 'globs'. Not very secure at all, and easy to remove in the shop! Most of the computer mags seem to have yards of tape attaching their cover discs - maybe HiFi News' printer/distributor could learn from this!

True Goeff, mine was attached with two small blobs of clear (not very effective) adhesive.

Bas,
The sampler is only distributed in the UK. Why don't you check with the incredibly friendly people at Naim?

January Hi Fi News is not on the shelves yet here in New York City. Usually it comes one month later - the leftovers of you all in the UK. I pay $7.95USD - very expensive.

Bundled CDs have come with it in the past and have made it here to the US - if not though - does anyone know where the CD might be available on the net?

Thanks!

Steven
