Alan genuingly wants to know as he is considering a second hand pair and doesn't have the opportunity to hear them first.
To buy a speaker without hearing it is a big risk. You may say that you love the Petites; someone else may hate them. Speakers are so room dependent and everyone's preferences are different. My advice would be that if the Eposes work well, stick with what you know.
In my crazy downsizing phase I bought two pairs of speakers without hearing them in my room(Neat Motive 1s and Naim Allaes) and both were a disaster. Luckily I bought cheap and sold at the same price, and I guess that if Alan can do that it would be a reasonable approach. But the likelihood is that they will simply be different rather than better or worse.

My hope would be that if i was able to get them cheaply enough i could sell them on without much of a loss if i didn't get on with them. Ideally i would be looking for something better to replace the epos but with money being tight i thought these may be a bit of an upgrade for now until i could go for something that would last me a good few black box changes.

Alan,
Isn't this just swapping one pair of rear ported two way speakers with another, albeit a pair with ribbon tweeters? You're going to get a different sound, not necessarily better. I concede that if you actually buy the Neats cheaply enough you may not lose.
Personally, I'd be looking to change a black box or two first.

Alan, I had fairly ltd opportunities to demo and got advice from here and elsewhere re: a pair of 2nd hand Harbeth P3ES2 speakers, and I was very pleased with the result. In fact, I did pretty much the same re: my Naim cd player and amp, with the same result.....
