Smooth, warm and sweet for me are not the same. Sweet for me is a harmonically rich sound, with the correct amount of even and odd order harmonics. Warm for me is coloured. Smooth for me is without apparent discontinuities, in timing and in frequency response
Do you agree with this differents concepts? MY system : Naim Nait 5 amplifier,Naim cd 5 ,Epos M 15 speakers,Naca5,FC2 |

Smooth to my ears is lack of harshness in the extremes (without loss of detail) and a comfortable, easy, unstrained presentation. Warm is mushy and fuzzy - what many think of as a valve sound (whereas a decent valve sound is fast and agile with lots of weight IMO). Not so sure about sweet - sparkly, detailed, balanced...
I'm not much good on theoreticals. I just know when something sounds right to me. Cheers Harry |
