Does anyone know what the total harmonic distortion is for the Nat 3 integrated amp? I purchaced this unit based on how much I like it's sound. I am farily new to the HI-Fi arena so preceived sound quality was what I based my purcahing decision on. However one of my co-workers is a audiophile and throws out all these specifications that aren't even listed in the owners guide. I thought I had spent a prety penny and had gotten a faily good sounding system(Naim Nat3 integrated, Creek CD43, and a pair of Neat Elite loudspeakers) for it. It sounds a lot better than the Yamaha CR-800, Marantz CD-67, and Fisher ST-500's that I had previously owned. This whole proces has created an avalanch of interist in HI-FI sound for my self, so I have a bunch of really basic Q's following this one.

Mark Tucker says :

Foget the technical data, it says nothing about the quality of a system. If your ears are telling you that the Nait 3 is a good for you, follow your ears !

Dunder,

questions are fine - you put 'em up, we'll knock 'em down.

However, you'll probably find it useful to follow the link in the top right of the main page labelled 'Visit the unofficial Naim FAQ'**.

As for the specs, Naim stuff measures well enough, but it has strengths in areas which few other companies strive for, and are difficult or impossible to measure.

Perhaps it's worth remembering that Naim is the largest seller of hi-fi separates in the UK (by value). They must be doing something right.

Just enjoy your new kit!

cheers, Martin

N.B. FAQ = Frequently Asked Questions - honest, it includes answers, too. Sorry if this is teaching an old net-head to suck eggs.

We call them audiophools. I bet he buys only Stereophile's Records to Die For, has memorised the specs of every high-end component, and listens to hi-fi rather than music. Sounds like someone I know from waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back.
