Hi Sundance,

As I understand it, you switch your system on in the following order:-

CDP
Supercap(I assume this is powering your 282)
250

...and then reverse when switching off...

250
Supercap
CDP

Remember as well that when switching off the power-amp, wait for the capacitors to discharge before switching anything else off. This will be signified by the logo-backlight gradually fading out and a distinct 'pop' (or however you call it) should be heard through each speaker.

Underlying logic.

You are trying to prevent odd noises through the speakers. You do not want the power amplifier on when you switch on or off the unit "upstream" of it.

So turn the power amplifier off first -
then, whatever order you choose, no signal will be amplified through to the speakers.
We do usually recommend working backwards through the system toward the source(s).

Turning on -
I am sure I don't have to say. Same logic.

The order doesn't matter apart from one component -the power amp. So the order now becomes:

Switch ON power amps last.
Switch OFF power amps first.

This is the most important rule to stick to. If you wish to work along the HiFi chain forward and back this guarantees the lowest level of pops happening, but in practice the only thing to ensure you do is the above.

The trouble is that our mains supply has been cut three times so far this year. Could any damage occur as both amp and power supply will have been switched off then on simultaneously?
