Hi,

Very pleased you are happy with my efforts Smile Certainly, using the flat washer rather than the one Roksan provided, has done the trick in terms of being able to attach the arm to the armboard properly and the slight increase in mass was a help to me in setting the LP12 suspension again, as there really isn't much to the Nima (weight wise).

One thing for you to check and perhaps comment on is; Have you noticed any change in performance in the replay of particular LP's with the washer change? I'm just trying to work out why Roksan would use such a "stiff" locking washer unless they had good sonic reasons to! Confused
Certainly if that washer had been tightened to a torque where it would have started to lock properly, the laminate on the board would have cracked, and that is a sure-fire way for the LP12 to sound much, much worse.

As you can imagine, seeing the number of LP12's each week that I do! I see a lot with cracked laminate on the armoard, caused by over ambitious tightening of arm nuts or allen bolts. The only place for an armboard so damaged, is the dustbin.

Anyway, let me know, as this information will be of interest to other Nima owners and don't disgard the old washer yet.......just in case!
If I do need to re-attach it, I'll have to come up with a better solution than last time as the thread-lock I used was self evidently not much use Roll Eyes

Anyway, enjoy and have fun.

Best regards,

Peter

The Roksan washer with ridge is designed to be used on either mdf, or the new Roksan circular arm plate made of acetal, and is intended to be done up tight!

Obviously the LP12 armboard is not ideal, unfortunately.

Peter,

sound wise its a little tighter lol Big Grin, and it's a little difficult to justify any changes that have been brought about by the washer, as you have obviously made the deck alot more 'bouncy'.

Been playing some 12" singles, including blue monday, at silly volume levels - all I can say is all is very well indeed, ta!
