Andy,

How about the difference between the Stageline and Heed phono?

I prefer the Stageline/HC over the P75 in my rig, too.

What does Heed do and Stageline/HC doesn't deliver?
Or is this a different sound all together like a P75?

Kuma,

I found the Heed gave a richer presentation, with more detail and depth than the Naim combo. Also I wasn't going to spend more than £600.00 on the phono stage, as the stagelin/hicap, if found to be inferiour, when sold 2nd hand would fund the stage. I did have an issue with the background noise on the P75, but to be fair I found the Heed a calmer, less fatiguing listen but with good resolution and timing...

Dexter, have a look at the system pics 2005 pt 2 thread... Winker

ah. thanks andy!

re: background noise
It was dead quiet with a P75 and I found the Stageline to be noisier!

No doubt this is subject to the main's condition and RFI.

Andy, I must be goin' blind in my old age; I can only make out the fabulous black Naim boxes. Are the Lingo & Quasar on the lower left shelf of the first Fraim? Would still love some close-ups. Winker

As you look at them, the kit is in the following order (top to bottom):
LP12, CDX2, 282, Heed Quasar 'brains'
250.2, scap2, xps2, Lingo2/Quasar 'brawn'.

hope that helps better.

Heh-Heh! Always helps to have a scorecard!

Anybody else see only indistinguishable masses of black? Aside from a few glowing green lights, that is. Winker

Update...

Having just taken my Lp12 back to Peter at Cymbiosis to once and for all cure the arm issue re the washer, I collected the deck today, and have just set it up again. Peter has fitted a very very very expensive Winker normal washer in place of the Roksan one, and I reckon the arm will still be in place when the deck has disitegrated in many years time ! Cool

Anyway, he's reset the suspension due to the washer being heavier than the one it replaced, and also obviously reset the Nima.

Been playing a new copy of Radiohead - Ok Computer, and it sounds brill. I also feel relaxed more knowing the bloody arm isn't going to come loose on me again! Thanks again, Peter!

I've also asked him about the cups on the Fraim. My latest Fraim level came with cups that, when you place the next shelf up into them, they have a little drilled out bit in the cente of said cup where the tip of the spike sits, so the spikes 'sit' in place. It seems a far more satisfactory situ to me, so I've enq about the price per set of three Winker

anyway, just thought I'd updated Y'all.

Oh, the Radiohead Lp is the 13th I've purchased since the Lp12 updating, and in case you don't know, I purchased a few of my LP's from:

regards,

andy c!

PS - the base has been left off my deck this time as well! Winker

Happy New Year too All...

Andy: Question - What is that Arm ???? It looks like Heath-Robinson Mk2, and it works loose?

If I remember my Rokson Dems: Very detailed, but lack of emotions and Kick-ass bass. It looks like you may have the right balance for your sistem though-so take my comments with a pinch of salt.

My own preference has been for the LP12/Ekos/Arkiva with All bits attached (inc trampolin) except the Lingo/2 where I found the Geddon better, only one speed but with a great deal more torque.

Must try some new 180g remastered records / Gold/Aluminum HDCD's? Any ideas?

Have fun... Cool

Hi tartarus,

the reason it worked loose is simply down to the type of washer supplied by Roksan was of the type that seems to have to compress in or bite into the wood - something that was never going to happen in my case (although it does seem others have not had a problem in this regard).

I have got hold of a thick 24mm diameter washer from a timber merchants, that has also added a little mass to proceedings as well, which was a good thing according to peter re set up etc.

I have a dv 17d2 on the Nima, and it feeds a Heed Quasar phono stage into my 282, and I like the sound - very detailed and on the right records stupid bass, going well deeper than the CDX2/XPS2!

I was initially using a Linn silver I/C between the phono amp and the 282, but am getting some good results also by using a Van Den Hul the 2nd I/C as wel.

Hope that clears things up for you.

Recent Lp purchases for me include: beatles - let it be (naked), DSOTM by Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode's playing the angel (the bass on some of the tracks on this is earthquake level!). The best fun for me has been researching Lp stockists. The worst bit is having to send a couple back due to having scratches on em - I do have to asy tho that Amazon after sales/returns has worked a treat for me.

PB - you were the only one that was behaving last night - it was bloody mayhem let me tell you! Roll Eyes
