For the last two years since Linn launched the Keel, Aro/LP12 owners would have been forgiven for feeling slightly left out in the cold.

Throughout 2007 the possibility of a Keel for Aro was discussed with Linn, Naim and Peter of Cymbiosis and in June of this year two Naim Aro’s, for research and development purposes, were supplied to Linn.

Various points with regard to the Keel for Aro design were discussed and with much excitement and anticipation a production prototype was supplied to Peter and after initial listening tests, he was delighted with the outcome.

And now, here is your opportunity to conduct your own listening tests, commencing with Cymbiosis Keel for Aro open days on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd of December 2008.

If you would like to attend this event, please e-mail peter@cymbiosis.com.

Further events will be held on subsequent dates at the dealers listed below

Infidelity e-mail info@infidelity.co.uk for appointments 6th - 11th December

Martin Kleiser - Beaconsfield e-mail colin@martin-kleiser.com for appointments 17th - 20th December

In order to avoid disappointment, as a high demand for places is anticipated, please e mail the most convenient dealer at the e mail address listed

No, not at all Emil, the first public demonstration of the Keel for Aro takes place here at Cymbiosis on 2nd and 3rd December.

Kind regards.

Hi,

Just a quick update. I will have the Akiva, and Dynavectors XV1-s and TK-Rua available on Aro tops, but anyone visiting is welcome to show up with their own Aro top if they have a different cartridge and wish to make the comparison. Please just let me know in advance if anyone wishes to take up this offer - phone/email would be fine.

The rest of the system I'll be using during the day is: Superline/Supercap2/552/300 and Kudos C20s. Naturally, all the electronics will be Fraimed Smile

In the mean time, here is a picture of the LP12 fitted with the Keel for Aro awaiting action next week:

Kind regards,

Peter

That's perfect Peter.

I've never heard the Kudos C20s, will they reveal all the subtle differences of the Keel? Will they show what the Keel does for very deep bass?

Yes Smile Anyway, they suit our second demo room (two channel) very well. Plus I've done enough lugging of DBLs about in the last week!

The right hand one - not the theatre.

Well they will be staying upstairs and playing with the CD555.

Anyway, you'll meet Lark and Jon Honeyball, so I'm sure you'll get an offer or two to go and listen!

Just a quick thankyou:

Many thanks to all those who were able to make it through the wind, rain and a little snow to the last two days events, and I'm very glad you found the demonstrations interesting and useful.

The Keel for Aro is a remarkable upgrade, substantially building on the strengths of the Aro, without altering anything that made the Aro your first choice of arm in the first place on the standard LP12 sub-chassis. I think it better that the guys who attended the event, should tell everyone their findings rather than me talk about the improvements further. As at the end of the day, it's far better that interested Aro/LP12 owners hear it from the "horses mouth" so to speak - From other Aro owners who have now heard what the Keel can achieve over and above the standard set-up.

However, I'm happy to answer specific questions if asked, so please keep an eye on the Hmmmm - just seen the...... thread.

Must dash, as I need to strip down the LP12 now and ensure it's winging it's way to Derek at Infidelity later today, the next leg of it's tour.

Many thanks once again to those who attended and everyone's interest in the Keel for the Aro.

Kindest regards,

Peter

In the meantime, we're aiming to get a few more Keels made in the next few weeks so that you can hear it without needing to wait for this prototype to get around everyone!

I'll leave it to the dealers to confirm the dates however, the above comment from Linn on their forum indicates to me that they are committed to this project. Indeed, I am sure that dealers are now taking pre-orders for Keel priced at £1,950.

Peter

Very committed to the project and yes Peter. Smile

The price is the same as the original Keel, but now thanks to the drop in VAT, there is a commensurate reduction in price too.

Timeline? - Well, dealers are hopefully going to post their open days here. Certainly there are several events taking place in the UK as noted above, but you need to check with your local dealer for dates in your locality........ Availability in the UK should be Jan/Feb with priority being given to dealer demo units and then it's first come first served guys. There is a small possibility of a few being available for dealer demo units before Christmas if we are really lucky...........

Chris, just in case you missed the pictures elsewhere - Here's your proof! Smile

Kind regards,

Peter

Your photoshop skills are improving, Peter.

Will they next make a top plate without the power button hole for the 'geddon users?

That would be ace.

Photoshop - I haven't a clue. I suppose I could have cropped out my knackered old floor with sunlight reflecting off it, but I rather like the effect Smile

Now you are really asking Connon! - Just warm the blanking plate so the lugs underneath can be eased out as they will then make a tighter fit into the cut-out on the top-plate. No rattles = Better sound Cool

Kind regards

Peter

Strewth the new aro armboard is a bit pricey Winker

My helpful local dealer is trying to set up an aro demo on my LP12 for me and can't locate a normal aro-cut armboard for love nor money. Time for home carpentry it seems - what a mad world we live in...
