Hi.

I would like any recommendations to replace Naim power cables. What do you think about Audioquest cables? I accept any suggestion.

Thank you.

My system:
- NAC112/HC2
- NAP150
- CD5/Stageline/FC2

The general advice you'll get in this neighborhood is not to change them as the standard Naim cables are considered best by most. Or the upcoming Naim Powerline but that seems a little over the top to me for your system price-wise.

I think very good improvements can be had from carefully selected powercords. I'd say try a few different ones and see what you think. What price range per cable do you have in mind?

Richard.

Welcome Wotan,

Why do you want to change your power cables?

My experience has been that Naim power cables sound best when powering Naim equipment. Other cables I have tried don't provide the full harmonic richness that the Naim cables do.

Hello. Thank you for your reply.

In some places I have attended some evidence with power cables and have been surprising. Even with Naim components, although they were not the same as my system.

I am coming to believe that the power cables are one of more important. In fact, I added to my team a Isotek MINISUB and improvement has been amazing.

Moreover, I can hardly believe that the black wire of Naim is the most effective possible, if we take into account its construction in comparison to other manufacturers.

Greetings.

Be careful Wotan. You're borderlining on heresy now. You'll be expelled before you know it. Smile

Seriously, the fact that Naim now too comes with a better powercord 'kinda' proves (for those who didn't believed it already) that there are worthwhile improvements to be had from better powercords. Thinking Naim is the only company that can make a better powercord that the stock shaver-wire is silly imo.

Try a few. It's fun to find out what they can do. I'm using the NBS Dragonfly III throughout now. They made a stunning overall improvement. I'm curious how good the Powerline will be. I'll try it for sure when it comes available.

Richard.

Not a matter of religion here.
But i think that if you are looking for something more you should not spend your money in power cables but in machines.
If you're looking for something different you should spend your money in other brands machines.
A matter of taste, a matter of fact.

Richard, I'm too curious how good the Powerline will be, but its price is too high for me. Discarded.

Gianluigi, should I understand your words ("If you're looking for something different you should spend your money in other brands machines") that the black wire of Naim is the best possible and than other cables most sophisticated worsen the sound or alter it? I love Naim sound, and the evidence I've done with other wires that make me feel more comfortable with Naim.

The reason for my post is to share your experiences and if someone has tried other cables apart from standard I would like to see told me his findings.

The system can be improved in many ways. Of course, changing components and, in my view, also changing the AC power cord. It's just my opinion, not any dogma of faith.

Then my humble opinion is the same: instead of looking for "better" cables you should try something higher on catalogue.
Enjoy!

Sorry, but you don't answer to my question. Your solution is quite obvious and, moreover, very expensive for me.The question is very simple: Other power cable, improve or worsen the sound?

Greetings.

Cable super-ultra-OFC-resonance-controlled-nuclear-treated-mega-wire Mark II. Are you going to comment on a non Naim after market cable Adam? That would be a first. Can't wait... Smile

For what its worth,I tried a standard Naim power lead vs a Russ Anderws Classic Power Chord, into a low budget Rotel ra01 amp and repeated the test with a Naim cd5.
In both cases the Naim lead sounded better, not by miles but just better.
Naim power lead is free with Naim gear,R.A.lead,£75 ,sold it for £35 -£40 = 4x good cd's I could have bought.
You could say I am now cable sceptic but then...
I went to Summer Sounds and heard the Powerline and Yes in the context of a 500/dbl system £395 per lead is a inexpensive and very worthwile uupgrade. That said I will try one or two in my cdx2/202/200 system (for free) before I would or will buy
as it my not work in my system on my mains power.
I have taken risks in the past with HiFi, some paid off and outhers did not,so the best advise is only BUY after TRY.

I am sure the best dealers will let you do this. All the best,Mike
