Hello:
I've been told that the Burndy for the CDS 3 needs to be broken in to get the best performance.
Can someone fill me in on what to do? I've tried to find something in the "search engine", but it is not working, at least on my computer.
Thanks in advance.
Jerry

Play the CDS3 for as many hours a day as you can.

[after a bit you will have a broken in Burndy. Your ear's will tell you when that happens]

Cool

The best way to break a Burndey is to play it for as long as possible. Give it a few weeks and it will continue to get better.

Hi Geoff and NB,

could you please explain me, why it is necessary to play (music)?
The Burndy ist only for electricity and not for music, therefore it
should be enough to power on the CD-player an d not switching it off.

At the moment I have a new SXPS Burndy between my CDS2 und XPS to break
in, my dealer told me it is not necessary to play music all the time ...

Regards

Well for a start when the CDS3 (or CDS2) is not actually playing a disc it goes into standby mode which as I understand it is not the same as the full power demand that is in use when it is playing a CD.

It is not really necessary to play music so you can hear it from your amp, you can just put on a CD and programme the CDS3 (CDS2) to repeat play it but not have the signal switcehd in at the pre-amp.

Of course it is much more pleasureable to actually sit down and listen to the great sounds the CDP is making than have silence , which is what NB & myself were suggesting.

Cool

I would second that, sometimes its best to frget the hi-fi and just sit back, relax and enjoy the music.

Hi Jerry;

I've had numerous new Naim CD players and never worried about accelerated 'burning in'.

Just leave it powered up, and play music only when you want to. Expect to hear a CDS3 improving for up to 3 months.

And don't get paranoid if it occasionally sounds worse than the day before. It has been my experince that the running in process can take two steps forward, and one back.

Happy listening.

John.

FWIW when I turned my Burndy around it took 100 hours to settle in and that was playing 16 hours a day.

I have been told Burndy likes it's kinks smoothed out before connection!

Naim shake it before for a specified number of times before it leaves the factory but it is probably worth shaking those "bag" coils out before use.
