I didn't realize just how bad was the "Lingo effect" of Rega p9's PSU on my CD player until Bob Edwards prompted me to unplug it. But, sure enough, CD replay is better with the p9's PSU switched off, and even better yet with it unplugged altogether.
It's not an utter transformation, but CDs improve enough that I'm looking for a solution. A separate spur for the Naim equipment and another for the Rega PSU would be ideal, but they aren't options right now. That will have to wait until I get a house. But what about the Conn 401/E, that power cable that Lingo users say removes or negates the power nasties the Lingo creates? What's special about the cable that it renders the Lingo effect null and void? And would the cable work with the Rega PSU? I understand that it would need to be hardwired into the PSU, but other than that, is there anything to it? Joe |

Joe,
the CONN401/E is not intended to reduce mains pollution problems. It floats the earth from the LP12, so that when a Naim CD player provides the earth there is not an earth loop. Of course, this could be your problem (since system sounds better with PS unplugged). Can you try three scenarios:-
cheers, Martin P.S. I know the RB300 (and perhaps RB900?) does not provide a separate earth wire - I believe it earths one or both of the audio channels. |

Martin,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them tonight. Joe |

The P3 doesn't have an earthwire in its mains lead, so it cannot connect signal earth to mains earth. The signal earth from one of the two signal leads is connected to the arm, but that's all.
