Hi folk’s
I have with very much interest followed this forum in the past few month’s.

Over the last decade I have owned several Naim, ranging from Nait 2 over 140/62 to Cdi/250/72/hicap/SBL. I have also tried several Linn/Royd/Epos loudspeaker’s, where the Kan II comes in mind as being one of the most revealing and involving, but I sold it (big mistake).
I have tried other amp’s including some tubed stuff, but find that overall, none comes close to Naim.
(Exposure integrated excluded, I own a super XX, which is a very musically and involving amp, though a different sound)
For now I am landed on Nait 3/CD3/Kan. I am totally knocked out of these small Kan’s (original), they are so involving that I can listen to most of my music without thinking of hi-fi, Great!. Though when pushed, Nait3 sound more recessed than the Super XX.
To upgrade this I think the flatcap is the first step. There is a 72 for sale here (new, aprox half price), and if i can find a 110, maybe 72/110/*cap will drive the Kan’s to more realistic levels ?.
I am really sorry that it is not possible to connect a Flatcap to the CD3. (does anybody know a serious compagny who can do that trick ?, or is it out of the question)
Do you have other suggestion’s concerning upgrade for little money (I will not give up the Kan’s – just want is a bit more level)

Regards
Per

I have a CD3.5 with a hi-cap.
Is there a difference between a CD3 and a CD3.5 in this respect (anyone) as you can sure get some benefit with either a flat-cap or high-cap on a 3.5.

Just in case (anyone) you CAN stick a flatcap on :-

Certainly the addition of a flatcap to a 3.5 makes a big difference. Dynamics - PRaT etc. BUT some of the "warmth" comes out of the presentation and it sounds much HARDER and ANALYTICAL at the same time - which for me destroyed some of the musicality. I found the hi-cap did all the good stuff with none of the drawbacks.

Listened to with a Nait 3R and (umm) some speakers - Dynaudio c 2K GBP I think.
