Dear all,
I recently moved house and have a wooden floor (parquet) in my new living room. Underneath it's concrete. Not wanting to destroy the floor I put Linn skeets under my SBLs. Did anybody compare the Naim chips to Linn Skeets? Any difference? Except that Linn Skeets are more discreet than the shiny Naim chips! Ciao! Willem P.S. I was quite anxious how my system would sound in the new house. I set it up two weeks ago and luckily it sounds really great. I think there still is some improvement possible, but I already get this great "wall of sound". Probably helped as well that I set up the SBLs myself patiently and that I now have a dedicated mains supply for the stereo. |

Hi Willem,
good to see you back. I use the Linn skeets under my rack(s), and I very much doubt that there is much difference (be it under racks or speakers)between the naim chips and the skeets. I wonder whether someone has done the comparison. From my point of view: keep them and listen to your system! Cheers Uwe |

I did the compatison SBLs/Skeeds vs SBL/Chips: the Chips are better. Now I use the Skeeds under my rack...

I used skeets with SBL's (and 2 Quadraspire racks), but changed to Chips for the speakers when I recently got SL2's. Still got skeets under the racks, but when I get Fraim I'll probably get Chips for it. No direct A/B comparisons were done, but my impression is that the Chips are better. They are certainly smaller and don't scratch as easily (I found the black finish could scratch off the skeets).

Dear Willem,
I used Skeets under my SBLs for a few years and then switched to Chips, which I found to be better. IMO the Skeets aren't that cleverly designed because they don't make contact with the tip of the spike, but grip it at the circumference (which, I would suppose, defeats the spike principle to a certain degree). OTOH this desing flaw makes speaker setup easier because you can easily turn the Skeet with your fingers to adjust the spike in the thread. Glad to hear your system's sounding good at your new house! Dear all,
Thanks for your advice. I knew I could count on you. It's nice to see you around even if I have been away from the forum for nearly two years. Last year was really hectic with the renovation of the house, but the result is worth it. I plan to go to see my Naim-dealer soon in order to exchange my 3,5 meters of NACA5 for 6 meters and I will ask him if he has any Naim chips to try. If I hear any difference I can always paint them black! Ciao and see you around! Willem |
