Hi there,

I have the Arivas on ceramic tiles.
The spikes are in direct contact with the ceramic tiles.

Should one put a spike shoe inbetween?
Will it change the sound or are spike shoes only for floor protection (mainly for wooden floors)?

If yes, how do such spike shoes have influence on the sound (technically)???

Any experiences before I go buying some shoes???

Thank you,
Luxen

I put some Naim Chips under my speakers and it tightened the sound up a bit. Previously I had some pennies below the speakers and the vibration would move them around so the speakers would eventually rock physically. The Naim Chips put paid to that and they don't move so easily now. I have exposed floorboards which are quite slippery and I can now move my speakers quite easily by comparison to before (useful).

I have not compared Naim Chips to any other floor protection/resonance control devices such as SoundBytes

Frank.

I had the spike shoes on granite and it was too much bass, way too much!! It came right back through the speaker. But the granite was sitting on a carpeted floor, so who knows. I would try them for the small price they are, but that is me.

OR, you could buy 8 symposium roller blocks and set the spike in the tapped hole, then the speaker will float and dissipate vibrations Big Grin Cool

At $500-1000 you must be joking. VERY expensive ball nutters.

I am so joking, hence the BIG smile. That would be ludicrous. Both of us own roller blocks for our CD players, inside joke Sir.

So, since the spikes are already pretty fixed on my ceramic tiles...the spike shoes wouldnt be necessary...

Right now, I am back on NACA5+PowerIgel...awesome.

The PowerIgel REALLY "transformed" what I hear through the NACA5.

Great improvement.
