I currently have a hicap hooked up to a 102/napsc/180. I am wondering if it is possible to hook up a supercap to the 102? I noticed that the connection guide doesn't show how to hook a sc to a 102, only to a flat or hi. Maybe a sc is considered overkill on a 102?
Anyone have experience with this set up?

I have run a supercap to a 42.5 preamp. The difference between an old snaps and a supercap was incredible. I am sure that it is possible to use a supercap on a 102. It would allow for an upgrade to a 52 in the future. However, check with your dealer to be sure.

Yes, you can connect a supercap to a 102. Use the same 5 pin din out of the 102 that would be used for either Flat or Hicap power supply to the supercaps 5 pin din connection marked preamp (socket 1 or 2 I believe). A Napsc would be another step in the right direction if you do not have one already, unless you will make the move to an 82/52 very soon. Enjoy! Tim

The Supercap will power your 102 veeeeeery nicely and wring the most performance from it. However, I don't think it will sound as good as an 82/Hicap. Unless you are planning to leap frog the 82 and go straight to the 52, I'd recommend that you audition an 82/Hi or preferably 82/2*Hi first. Of course, an 82/Super sounds even better. The 82 is a far more sophisticated preamp than the 102 can ever hope to be, and no amount of superior juice for the 102 will ever change that. IMHO of course.
I owned a 102/Hicap before switching the Hicap to a Supercap. The Supercap completely transformed the 102. IMO the 102/Supercap is a definite rival (if not superior in some ways) to the 82/Hicap (which I listened to before purchase). However, my intention is to move directly to the 52. If you do not intend to purchase a 52 in the short term a 82/Hicap would probably be a wiser choice as once you add a 2nd Hicap or Supercap to the 82, you move well beyond the 102/Super.
