Hello everybody:

I just plugged in the Hi-Line into my CDX2 for 2 days. Please advise me how long does it take to be completely run-in?

By the way, the sonic effects are as follows after plugging in the hi-line:

1) the music or the sound is much smoother than before.

2) I felt much improvement in the singer's passion.

3) the isolation between each instrument(such as piano and violin) is much obvious than before.

4) the details are more than before.

5) musicality is better than before.

6) coherence is higher and the density is higher.

Please let me know whether my observation regarding the hi-line is right or not.

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers, Smile Smile Smile

Hi 555,

I will follow your advice to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom/work.

By the way, I just ordered the Hi-Cap and XPS2 for my NAC202 and CDX2.

Please also let me know how long does it take to be completely run-in?

Cheers,
Patrick Smile Smile

If they are new you have a couple of months of your music getting better. You will know when its at its best .
Do you have a NAPSC on your 202?

Hi Patrick

To answer your question opinions vary.
Many members have reported the Hi-Line takes less than Naim electronics - IME it was about a month.

Electronics generally seem to be 1-2 months, CDPs also need aprrox 200hrs in play mode.

Have you seen Marc Newman's excellent tip in his Never fails to amaze me thread?

Have fun - John

Hi Patrick,

I've found the HiLine to have a substantial effect upon sound quality, depending how it's installed. Ideally of course, it should not touch anything else on the planet, but this is often a practical impossibility.

More important seems to be dressing the cable so that torsional (twisting) stress is not placed on the plug.

My system seemed to go 'off' the other evening after hastily reinstalling my CD HiLine. I took some time getting it right the next time, and the sound snapped back into focus.

Some people advise pulling the plug back a touch after insertion - to create a small gap between the end of the plug case and socket surround. There is enough 'looseness' in the connection to allow this.

As ever, correct installation pays sonic dividends.

John.

Hi John:

What you mean is that do not fully plug the IEC into the CDP?

Please advise me! My English is not so good.

Cheers,
