Hello everybody:

Please advise me which Cap should be buy first if I can only buy one of them. Hi-Cap or XPS2?

I am now using NAC202 and NAP200 to drive my ProAC D15 and the CDP is CDX2. I am also using the NAPSC for the NAC202.

Thank you very much.

A Hi-cap makes a big difference to a 202/200, and is useful as you continue to upgrade. Given that it (only !!) costs 1k, I would do this upgrade before an XPS2.

On the source first principle then the XPS2 on the CDX2, especially if it's the only source.

There you go 2 answers 2 opinions.
Ain't this place great? Smile

Ah shit late again! At least I got the things connected to the right bits! Winker Roll Eyes

Thank you all of you!

I got the Hi-line in hand but not yet plugged in the CDX2 for the time being.

My CDP landed in April 2008 and it just ran in for around 150 hours. I think the run-in time is not enough, right? However, my NAC202 landed in mid of Jan 2008. I think the run-in time is enough, right?

Cheers,

A CDX2 cant be powered by a Hi-cap. The PSU's that can power a CDX2 are XPS2 & 555PSU

Really? Well I never knew that! Much simpler to jump straight to 555PS and be done with it!

That's a £4k+ PS. My, limited, experience tells me that with one of them driving a CDX2, the CDX2 is not going to stay in the system for a long term. I feel that combination is too upfront. (0.02€)

I ran a bare CDX with 202/200, then 202/Hi/200, then 202/Hi/Napsc/200 and didn't feel the need for a better source. I had an opprtunity for an XPS and once it went in the system I didn't want to take it out. Talk about speaker upgrade Big Grin ! As a result I sold my subwoofer.

I think the HiCap is a good choice, and dramatic. It's also less than half price compared with an XPS2.

regards

Peter

Hi Peter:

thanks for your advice. I decided to buy the Hi-Cap first as the 202 landed over 4 months and I think it should be properly ran-in, right?

I agree with you that XPS2 is a stepping stone for me to upgrade to CDS3.
