I am lloking forward to getting my first turntable and am considering the following two,

Rega Planer 3
Music Hall ss5(I think) w/Project Arm.

Any comments on either choice would be appreciated.

Have you considered a used Linn LP12 with Ittok arm? These are relative cheap (in the UK at least) and easily better both your initial choices. The Linn is (almost) infinitely upgradeable with better arms, power supplies and cartridges and will provide you with years of sterling service and enjoyment. Just make sure you get a good one and have it serviced and tuned by a reputable dealer.
