My mid 90's NAIT3 had specifications of 30wpc into 8 ohms/45wpc into 4 ohms. I cannot find a spec for the NAIT5 into 4 ohms (the 8 ohm spec is still 30 wpc.)
The NAIT3 was used with 8 ohm floorstanders that had 92db efficency and would really rock and roll, slowly giving up soundstage and clarity as the volume got too high. The 5 is more refined but seems to be a control freak, soundstage, depth and imaging are wonderful with the volume control at the 10a.m. position-past that everything collapses immediately into mush. I am just curious as to what power output I am dealing with with a 4ohm load as opposed to the 8ohm load? As I am trying to compare one brand of apple and orange with a different variety of apple and orange, I may not find an easy answer. I love what I am listening to with the volume at 10a.m. Thanks for any input. Jimj Old system: NAIT3, Marantz CD63, NEAR 40Me speakers. New systen: NAIT5, CD5, Polk LSi7 speakers. |

about 50 W per channel into 4 ohm load. Naim amplification have about 0.87 power factor when going from 8 ohm to 4 ohm.
30 W into 8 ohm 30 (8/4) * 0.87 = 52 W |

Tuan,
no, it's a powerful little bugger:- quote: The 8 ohm figure is the same as the NAP150x. I don't know if it means the same thing, but the NAP135 is rated at 500VA peak! See NAIT5i specs. Unfortunately, it doesn't include a 4 ohm spec, but it's probably not really aimed at 4 ohm speakers. cheers, Martin P.S. who was it who repeatedly badgered Naim to make a 50W integrated? E-mail:- MartinPayne (at) Dial.Pipex.com. Put "Naim" in the title. |

Lest we confuse Jim here - I think he's interested in the specs of the '5' as opposed to the new '5i'.
Nait 5 - 30 wpc into 8 ohms (125 VA) Nait 5i - 50 wpc into 8 ohms (250 VA) John. |
