Hi,

Linn's new dome treble-unit with a neodymium magnet for the Katan and Ninka speakers appears to be very good. Any views on if they would improve on the Isobarik's original treble-units? Any reason why they should not match the original treble-units electrical/cross-over characteristics?

... if you ask their help line, will tell you to talk to your nearest Linn dealer. Looks like your only option.

...Linn's helpdesk were actually very helpful. The fellow checked with the proper Linn person who said the new tweeters would work if you run the speakers actively (but not if you run them passively - which I interpret as they may need some level adjustment which can be provided by the active filter). Strangely, the local Linn-dealer (who is an extremely competent Linn-dealer) said the new tweeters will not work in the Isobarik environment...

In other words - still confused but at a higher level.

Hi Anders
My Linn dealer says that they have tried the new tweeter in a pair of passive Kabers, but it didn´t work any good at all.

Anders,
I assume from your profile that you're using a Naim NAXO, if so you will have no problem with the new tweeters as they have level adjustments inside for the tweeters. Have a competent Linn dealer or importer do the install as it is very easy to damage the veneer on the 'bariks. The units are sold in matched pairs so make sure tops match tops and front units match fronts(four tweeters in Isobariks). It is a ridiculously high VFM upgrade to your system.

Hi Ron,

You are right about the Naxo. I'm sorry I didn't get the last part: "It is a ridiculously high VFM upgrade to your system." Can you explain further!

Hi Anders.

By "VFM" I think he means "value for money". In other words for a relitively modest outlay of cash you should get a big "bang for your buck" improvement.

Thanks,

Mark
