Dear Colleagues,

Who has heard the Verity Audio PARSIFAL (Ovation) speakers with a NAIM system especially power amps, e.g. the NAP 300 ?
My brief encounter with this speaker was excellent - but it was driven by a Tube amp.

So before I progress to a home-demo, I'd appreciate some feedback from NAIM users to avoid (unpleasant) surprises.

Thanks & regards

Urs

I've heard the Parsifal at the end of my (then) chain: CDS3/252/300.

that was when I came to an audition of the Ayon speakers. After 2-3 hours and a rest of doubts (which finally made me not buy the Ayons) the dealer suggested (based on my comments) to try the Parsifals.

I must have been too tired, by then (and too much tuned into the Ayons), but they left me very cold. After 2-3 songs, we stopped...

cheers
Stefan

PS where are you ? who's the dealer ?

Thanks for your reply - I'm in Zürich, and I'll try to get a homedemo in due time.
Dealer is: http://www.audiovinyl.ch/

I've heard a few active systems recently, some of which sounded "technically perfect". The Parsifal however really convinced me with musicality and a "life-like" realism & atmosphere. But than, that was just a first impression in the dealers room, with the Einstein tube amp.

I was hoping that some of our US and Canadian colleagues may use the NAIM power amp & Parsifal combination and could give a feedback ?

My friend had the Parsifal Encores, with Accuphase CD transport, DCS Purcell/Elgar DAC/upsampler (IIRC), Pass Aleph3 preamp and some halfway "decent" power amp (totally forgotten the brand.

It was very clean, very precise, and very boring. He had that rig for about 2 years, and whilst it did dynamics, slam etc, it was just so dull.

We stuck my (then) Epos ES14s on the rig and it sounded much more lively, but still flatter than it should have done.

I am a fan of the complete VA line and I am currently in the process of obtaining a review pair of the Parisifal Ovations. Every time I have heard them, it is clear to me they suit my biases.

I don't have naim amps, but a CDX2/XPSII. My amps are Nuforce Ref SEs. I don't ecpect to get them and have a review posted beofore Jan/Feb, but I am really looking forward to them....and I am hopeing to make them my new reference..

3 years ago, I attended a public demo of the Lohengrins (at the time $75,000CDN) on Nagra VPA/MPA and they blew me away.

I asked the designer if he ever heard them with Naim, as they sounded very fast and I thought they would have been a great match. Unfortunately, he said that he had not.

I'd be curious to hear VAs on Naim one day. If/when you do, Urs, please let us know what your findings are.

I listened to the Verity Audio Parsifal at the end of a Nagra system, this was at Paris Audio Show in October, it sounded pretty good to me, the Naim room was right beside to the Nagra room.

Edouard
