After 25 years or so the TT from my mother (Dual something) finally died. For Xmas we would like to get her a new one, possibly s/h. The budget is araound 200-400 pounds. What should we look for?.

Well, for 200-400 UKP there must be enough choice
for a good budget TT.
Have you tried the Pro-ject series. (debut at 110,- UKP of the 1.2 for about 40,- UKP more.)

Or you could go for the new Pro-ject TT.
(Don't know the name of it) I saw an article in
the new HN&RR. It looked great! for 300,- UKP.

Or..if you're lucky you'll find a Rega P-2 or
P-3 on the s/h market before Xmass.
