The mains fuse in all of our products is directional and should always be inserted with the writing towards the top.
This makes a great difference to sound quality (believe it or not!) and it's worth check all your mains powered gear to ensure the fuse is up the right way.
(This message was bought to you by those awfully nice Naim people)
Thanks for the tip. Have found that fuses in Supercap (to Prefix), XPS & Armageddon needed to be turned round. Listened after each change and found a worthwhile improvement, adds clarity and focus and not a small improvement. Then looked at fuse in Supercap powering 52. This was fine so clicked it back into place. This too brought about an improvement and therefore am wondering just how much difference is by virtue of the cleaning of contacts when removing and replacing. Also, I'd very much like to know how you found out the fuses are directional. Just goes to show how Naim pay attention to detail. Can't imagine many other companies caring so much about the minutia. Also proves we are all anoraks!!

The first Naim I bought was on the year 1992 and it was the Nait2 to replace my QED amp.
Since then the I konw that the equipment is so reliable I have no reason to touch it. I think if I had a remote (I may have with a new 102) and didn't have a turntable, I might forget how does the equipment look like. So reliable - just switch to the source you want to listen to and set the volume and you are in heaven.
But many of the posts here describe a differ picture. It is like some members are not satisfied of the equipment and always are looking for an improvement (I'm not tlaking about replacing components).I don't even beleive about the stories of changes in quality because of changing in the power comes from the walls. First of all since the year 1992 it didn't happened at my home and the Israely power supply is not better than in Europe or in the USA or in Canada or you name it, secondly - I guess that the engineers are building the power supplies with the knowladge of the differences in picks of power supplied to our homes. Furthermore, Naim are claiming that they are produce the products fitted to the countries they are going to ship it to - so or they do know the work or they don't - I think they do. I understand the importance of the power supply but I guess it works as it should - put the equipment as it should be on shelves, leave it working and enjoy it. At my house that the way it works, if I had to think about electricity and fuses and all the problems you are talking about - I guess I would seek for another manufacturer.

I`ve been using this forum for about 2 years. Why are we just hearing about this now? I mean if it is that much of an improvement and it`s so obvious to Naim, then why not tell us this before? I`ll be checking my boxes tonight. As an aside, I am spending decent coin to have a dedicated line for my naim boxes-being installed tomorrow. Hope it is worthwhile. david.
It would be wonderfu if Naim would respond to some of the intense interest generated my these mysterious occasional posts, simply by answering the followup questions. Were are you Mark? Come back, please

To all naim owners who have purchased Naim in this country..no need check the direction of your mains fuse. I have been setting them upon arrival in this country for years.

Chris.

My initial reaction was to wonder whether I'd gone into some kind of timewarp and it is actually April 1st.
