Search is screwed again..
Simple question I'd imagine, does it do any harm to leave a CD in the CD5 when not in use? cheers, Paul |

And for the CD5i ???
I think it is no problem, only it is getting a littlebit warm. NAIM: NAIT5,CD5i, Interlink Dynaudio: Natural One |

Not a problem for the player per se. The problem is pressure on the three rubber rings in the puck. Keeping the rings flattened will shorten the useful life of the puck. The puck can be left on the transport ring. With no CD in place, no pressure is exerted on the rubber rings.

I was at my local Naim dealer's today having my first listen and fondle of a CD5X.
Naim clearly want to get away from the relatively 'tweaky' puck with the three rubber rings. The new design has no rubbery bits to get dirty or squashed and sticks strongly to its 'platter'. So; no problem to leave a disc in one of the new breed of machines (CD5i/CD5X). We played some music through CD5X/Nait5i/Intro II's and it was a superb sound. Real clarity and insight into the recording. |

Hi J.N.,
That's great news. Any chance the pucks are back compatible? It would be great if I didn't have to remember to take the CD out of my "3" before going to bed. |

I or more often the other half leaves a CDwith puck in the CD5 all the time.
Had the thing for 4 years and apart from 1 or 2 dodgy disks never had a problem, never had to blu tack things, stretch rubbery bits etc etc. |
