i want to drive my gale 401's. what nain amp will do this?

If you want to drive them really well, then use a NAP 250 - as long as you have the appropriate Naim pre-amp to go with it.

Also I believe that the original tubular 'speaker stands for them are crap - try some other stands.

You might alternatively want to look at changing the loudspeakers instead. Anyway, what's the rest of your system? How big is your room etc.?

Don't bother trying to match them with a high quality amp, they aren't woth it sonically in my opinion. A 250 will not drive them well. I used to sell and own them.
