Can a high output MC Dynavector 10x4 (2.5mV) be used with a K type phono board in a 82?

Thanks.

No.

You will need a 522 (MM) board.

Actually, I ran a Grado Sonata (4.5 mv output)into an 82 with K boards for a week or so with no ill effects.

Actually, I expected very bad overload, but I never heard it.

But I got myself a pair of 522 boards as soon as possible.

If that's the case, I'll use my Exposure Super XV as a phono amp until I switch over to a low output cartridge.

I am considering getting a low output MC cartridge earlier.
What cartridges would work best with the K board?

Thanks.

Leeto

select your cart. Then select the correct board for it. To select the board first is like putting the cart before the horse.

But if the "horse" can accept carts that are I have shortlisted, that would be the best...

Here are some of my preferred ones
Dyna 17D2 (first choice)

And if I win a small lottery,
Lyra Helikon Normal Output
Lyra Helikon Low Output
Dyna XX-1L

Would these work well or do I need the "S" board?

Come now, Leeto - next you'll be choosing speakers and then asking which amp is best for them!

The XX-1 is now superseded. You've also not revealed which arm/turntable you're running. Select your cartridge (to suit the T/T and arm), then the appropriate board. What does your friendly Naim dealer advise?

PS - if you win the lottery the cost of the appropriate board (or more appropriately, a Prefix K or S) to match really won't be an issue, will it?

The K is said to work well with the Lyras. Many (ears I trust) prefer the S boards with the Dyanvectors as a more appropriate match.

Rega P9/RB1000. Bought the Naims(82/250/hicap) used and yet to deal with my friendly dealer yet. Will be dealing soon though.

No, it will not. But my 82 already comes with a K board and I am currently using the Dyna 10x4 high output. I am trying to work out which option gives the best bang for the sound and buck.

This is the answer I've been looking for.

Thanks. smile
